Artist & Title: Grant Green - Grantstand Label & Cat #: 1977 Blue Note – BST-84086 Stereo *reissue of original 1962 recording Vinyl Grade: Very Good Plus (VG+) play graded *long superficial scuff mark across Side 1, while Side 2 has a couple of spindle marks. There was very limited noise disturbances during play, with light & intermittent background noise, mainly on Side 2, Track 1 where several 'partial' ticks heard on (very low intensity) Cover Grade: Excellent (EX) *jacket in shrink wrap and only flaw is a corner cut on lower rh side Notes: Grantstand teams the clear-toned guitarist with an unlikely backing group of musicians who rarely appeared with Blue Note otherwise: tenor saxophonist Yusef Lateef (who doubles on flute), organist Brother Jack McDuff, and drummer Al Harewood. Relaxed, bop-tinged soul-jazz makes up most of the session. The groove is what reigns supreme, so if you're looking for Green the soul-jazz groovemaster, Grantstand is an excellent place to find him.
