Very well constructed album. This is their 2nd and it is different from their debut. Those that were expecting this to be an extension of their first album were greatly disappointed. The psychedelic trip that was evident on the 2nd side of the album is not here on this one. You do get some great variety here such as a country hoedown instrumental on 4th track and a great instrumental number, "Don and Dewey", to start things off. "Soapstone Mountain" is one of the strongest of the bunch and there are some other great tracks like: "Galileo", which has narration in it, and "Do You Remember the Sun?". Because there wasn't any promoting of hit singles, this album for the most part went unnoticed. Only two 45's were released from the album: "Good Lovin'/Soapstone Mountain" and "Do You Remember The Sun/Dolphin". Neither one of these singles charted and hit radio never played them. I didn't even know about this group until last year and this album was released in 1970. That tells you how many know about this band. It goes to show that some of the most talented groups are not always the most popular. I highly recommend this album. If you don't have the debut album, I suggest you get that one as well. Pick up a used copy of the vinyl on Columbia records if you can find it in good condition. Overall these musicians are great and proves that that the violin or the fiddle can be used effectively as a rock instrument. Make sure you click on our store icon.
