and on labels: "Originally released in 1966 by Blue Notes Records".

Recorded on April 21, 1965.

Note 'Desert Moonlight" - Composed by Suguru Sasaki In 1923. This melody was written for Masawo Kato’s poem about a imaginary journey in desert. After been recorded as “Desert Moonlight” on Lee Morgan’s album “The Rumproller” in 1965, it is often performed as a jazz tune. Unfortunately, it seems the composer was registered as Lee Morgan.
Further note: In 1959, Lee met the beautiful Kiko Yamamoto, Japanese American, in Chicago where Lee was playing with Miles Davis. Kiko was a model in her teens, a dancer with The Keigo Imperial Dancers, and a bunny girl at the Playboy club. Lee and Kiko had a whirlwind romance which led to them being married in 1960 - This is likely how he first heard the original song.
