Gaylord Carter ‎– Sounds from the Silent Screen (Ben-Hur, Thief of Bagdad, The Temptress) (Soundtracks LP) (1977)
Very good US import film score compilation.
Front cover features classic photo of Douglas Fairbanks with other photos of Roman Navarro, May McAvoy in Ben Hur and Greta Garbo in The Temptress on rear of sleeve.
This album has never had a release on CD so this remains the only available source for this compilation.
Condition Vinyl: VG. Looks very clean on visual inspection. No obvious signs of scuffs, marks or hairlines but mottling and fogging on both sides. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is great throughout. Some mild static and light clicks in places. Plays with no skipping, jumping or sticking. A decent listening experience to a rare score.
Outer Sleeve (Cover): G-VG. Colours clear and unfaded. Superb thick card sleeve. No obvious marks to front except one or two stains on main photograph. Light disc ring. Corners badly worn and bowed slightly. Mild scuffing to bottom edge and top edge partly split. Spine partly scuffed and split, notably at top but text is still readable. Aperture shows just light nicks and mild bowing. Reverse side has some staining round edges but is generally in good shape apart from the odd nick to aperture. Overall a really good example. Inner Sleeve: EX. Original. White paper with rounded corners and central hole. Slightly faded. A few minor creases/folds though normal handling.
