Ensiferum (Latin ensĭfĕrum (neuter adjective) meaning ‘sword bearer’) is a Finnish folk metal band from Helsinki. The members of the band label themselves as ‘heroic folk metal’. Since their formation, Ensiferum has released four full-length albums, one EP, one compilation, three singles, and three demo albums.

 

From Afar is the fourth studio album by the Finnish folk metal band Ensiferum, as well as the first to feature keyboardist Emmi Silvennoinen. It was released on September 9, 2009 on Spinefarm Records. The album was produced by Nightwish producer Tero Kinnunen and Victory Songs producer Janne Joutsenniemi. It was mixed by HIM producer Hiili Hiilesmaa.
