The Jefferson Airplane LP ‘Bless Its Pointed Little Head’ entered the American charts in January 1969 and rose to number 17 in a 20-week chart run. The album consisted of live performances from the Fillmores West and East recorded in October 1968, when the band was untouchable as a live unit.

 

‘More Head’ features further live recordings from the series of concerts that made up ‘Bless Its Pointed Little Head’, including the full unedited version of ‘Rock Me Baby’ that appeared on the original album.

 

At this stage in the band’s career, the combination of Jack Casady’s melodic thundering bass, and Jorma Kaukonen’s blues-influenced acid guitar would not be surpassed.  Combine this with the complementary soaring vocals of Grace Slick and Marty Balin, the precise drumming of Spencer Dryden, and the vision and direction of Paul Kantner, and you have an unsurpassable glimpse of real West Coast psychedelic rock.
