One of the long-running series’ greatest performances, MTV Unplugged found Seattle grunge legends Alice in Chains dropping their usual intensity and doom-laden riffs, in a culmination of the acoustic format first explored on the Jar of Flies EP.
Now reissued by Music on Vinyl, this double-LP ultimately proved to be singer Layne Staley’s last with the group before his drug-related death in 2002.
They’d be back with a new incarnation, but for the classic lineup, this stunning set proved an appropriate swansong.
