One of a nice collection of Classical rarities we have just had in, a single cherished and many unplayed lps.
1961 1st Plum and silver labels with earliest papered over sleeve rear, UK Philips Stereo of Arthur Grumiaux in Franck & Grieg Violin Sonatas, with Pianist Istvan Hajdu. The two catalogue numbers are present to this: SAL 3738 and 835 342LY. Musically a very compelling account. Grumiaux was one of the greatest 20th century violinists, with a lovely tone. I tend to prefer the English pressings of early Philips lps when they have poly lined sleeves, as the Dutch ones sometimes have "bag rash", a slight transferring of the polythene against the vinyl. None of the English ones (as here) are ever affected by this - meaning a different manufacturer is used. Another seller has the mono in lower condition for about my start, this should be 5 times more than that!.
Record is in Near Mint condition, no marks and clean playing surfaces, clean labels with hardly a spindle mark in sight. Near Mint sleeve, no issues. Plays near mint.
we send packed in hard card custom made new boxes.
