2014 has been a stellar year for Sharon Van Etten, with her stunning fourth album Are We There becoming both her biggest selling and most acclaimed to date.
Moreover, anyone who’s seen her live in recent months will know there’s more where it came from, with the terrific I Don’t Want To Let You Down already established among the highlights of her shows.
It probably wouldn’t have fitted the tone of the eventual LP, but now it’s being released as the title track to a new EP, together with four other non-album cuts.
Far from a heap of rejects and failed experiments, these songs capture emotions of surrender, disappointment, admission and longing as only the New Jersey singer can.
Produced by Van Etten and Stewart Lerman, they’re as sophisticated and evolved as anything she’s has ever done.
Also available on CD.
