Preceded by their victorious Glastonbury headline slot and the all-conquering single Sex on Fire, Only By the Night was the record which transformed the Followill’s from Nashville indie darlings to bona fide superstars.
With the similarly ubiquitous Use Somebody bearing the same studio sheen, its sound was lofty, ambitious and designed to propel the quartet into the world’s stadiums - and by that measure it could scarcely have been more successful.
