THE BEATLES The Beatles (White Album) (Apple PCS 7067/8) RAREST French/UK 1st Pressing EX++
Up for sale is a VERY RARE first French pressing of The Beatles` eponymously-titled, so-called "White Album" on Apple Records (November 1968).
Please note: French first pressings such as this one came with the original UK-pressed "top-loader" sleeves!
I will refrain from describing the timeless pop music contained within this album. Suffice to say that the copy on hand is a VERY RARE first French pressing, released in the month of November 1968. How do I know this? Well, French first pressings were released in original UK-manufactured "top loader" sleeves. At the time, EMI France`s printing presses were still gearing up for the initial production run. Therefore, Apple Records jumped in to supply the first series of French "White Album" sleeves - resulting in this absolute rarity.
Whereas the cover uses the British prefixes PCS 7067 and PCS 7068 and clearly states "Printed and Made in Great Britain by Garrod and Lofthouse International Ltd.", the records housed in the sleeve are the original corresponding first French pressings, with the correct prefixes SMO 2051 and SMO 2052.
GRADING:
EX++ COVER with only light storage wear. Please see photos for details.
- Original UK first pressing "top loader" gatefold sleeve, fully laminated.
- Numbered sleeve ("No. 0030667") with "The Beatles" in embossed print.
- A few light creases to bottom edge only.
- Also includes the four photo portraits of John, Paul, George and Ringo in near-perfect MINT(-) condition.
- Includes large full-colour poster in EX++ to MINT- condition with a single corner crease (see photos).
- Includes one of two original French inner sleeves in EX+ condition; the other inner is unfortunately missing...
VG+ to EX+ RECORDS that have seen a fair amount of play. Very passable audio reproduction throughout.
- Both records have some hairlining and intermittent scuffing, due to obvious use.
- The first record grades as VG+, with a few scuffs, a pop or two and some recurring background crackle.
- The second record grades better as EX+, with only a few light hairlines (from sleeve removal) and lighter background crackle between some tracks only.
- Original French first pressing Apple labels with no visible spindle lines whatsoever.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "YEX 709 21" and "YEX 710 21" as well as "YEX 711 21" and "YEX 712 21", denoting a very first French pressing.
- This copy of "The Beatles" is fully certified to be an original French first pressing, released in November 1968.
PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded VG+ to EX++ condition: You will not find another copy of "The Beatles" offering similar value-for-money on all of eBay!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: SHIPPING COSTS ARE $12 TO EUROPE / $15 TO USA AND REST OF THE WORLD
eBay`s maximum shipping cost for the US is predetermined at $4. Obviously, the pricing system does not foresee foreign sellers listing in the US. However, we cannot possibly ship a double album from Europe at this price. By purchasing, the buyer agrees with the mailing costs as outlined above.
