Fall Out Boy is an American  band formed in , a suburb of , in 2001. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist , bassist , guitarist , and drummer . The band originated from Chicago's  scene, with which Wentz was heavily involved. The group was formed by Wentz and Trohman as a  side project of their respective hardcore bands, and Stump joined shortly thereafter. The group went through a succession of drummers before landing Hurley and recording their debut album, (2003), which became an underground success and helped the band gain a dedicated fanbase through heavy touring, as well as some moderate commercial success.

With Wentz as the band's lyricist and Stump as the primary composer, the band's 2005 major-label breakthrough,, produced two hit singles, "" and "", and went , transforming the group into superstars and making Wentz a celebrity and tabloid fixture. Fall Out Boy received a  nomination at the . Their 2007 follow-up, , landed at number one on the  with 260,000 first week sales. It produced two worldwide hit singles, "" and "". , the band's fourth album, created a mixed response from fans and commercially undersold expectations. Following the release of , the band took a hiatus from 2009 to 2012 to "decompress", exploring various side projects. They regrouped and recorded (2013), which gave the band their second career number one and produced the triple platinum top 20 single "". Their sixth studio album,  (2015), released worldwide on , was preceded by the 2x Platinum top 10 hit "". The album peaked at No. 1, making it the group's third No. 1 album.

While Fall Out Boy's music has been typically described as  and , the band were generally seen in the mid-2000s at the forefront of the "" explosion. Take This to Your Grave has often been cited as an influential blueprint for pop punk music in the 2000s.

Autopilot Off is a  band from  composed of Chris Hughes (guitar), Chris Johnson (guitar/vocals), Phil Robinson (drums) and Rob Kucharek (bass).

In May 2011, a  page titled "Autopilot Off (Official)" was created, with an image of the band's name and the words "TwoThousandEleven" being uploaded soon after. This had led to speculation of a possible reunion, nearly six years after they announced their hiatus. Autopilot Off confirmed that they were working on new material on June 20, on their official Facebook page.

Autopilot Off formed in 1996 under the name Cooter. They slowly gained popularity by doing live shows throughout the 90s while sharing the stage with more popular bands such as , , ,  and . They eventually recorded their first full length album, . In 2000 the band was involved in a bitter lawsuit with the  punk rock band , who own the  to the name Cooter. The New York band settled out of court in 2002, and changed their name to Autopilot Off. However, Autopilot Off's record label Fastmusic, took the lawsuit all the way to Federal Court and lost to the Mississippi band. Autopilot Off then signed with their major label,  shortly afterwards. After this they released their eponymous debut EP in the spring of 2002.

In 2004, under their new name Autopilot Off, they released their major debut album, . This included the single "What I Want", which was co-written by 's .
