This is a reissue of the French version edition, issued in 2015, with different cover art than the German release. Wah Wah Records has also reissued the original German version, Herz Aus Glass (LPS 160/DE), check my listings for availability; same music on both releases. This limited edition features remastered sound, original French edition artwork plus an insert with liner notes and photos (no bonus tracks this time). Comes housed in a clear outer resealable mylar sleeve; as shipped by the label. MUSICIANS:  Florian Fricke (piano), Daniel S. Fichelscher (guitar, percussion), Mattias Von Tippelskirch (flute), and Alois Bromer (sitar). TRACKS:  Engel Der Gegenwart, Blätter Aus Dem Buch Der Kühnheit, Das Lied Von Der Hohen Berger, Hüter Der Schwelle, Der Ruf, Singet Denn Der Gesang Vertreibt Die Wölfe, and Gemeinschaft. DESCRIPTION:  Herz Aus Glass/Coeur De Verre was another classic soundtrack produced by Popol Vuh for a Werner Herzog film. Its music still retains the powerful emphasis given to the previous album (Letzte Tage, Letzte Nächte) in certain passages, although it goes back to their more reflexive ambient atmospheres it introduces some new twists to that concept that show it to be an evolving process, such as adding some touches of  folk music. Vocalist Djong Yun is no longer part of the ensemble anymore, but Daniel Fichelscher and Florian Fricke can still count on the collaboration of Alois Gromer on sitar, plus the addition of Mathias von Tippelskirch on flute. Popol Vuh has been nominated three times for an Oscar for best original score:
1972 (Aguirre), 1979 (Nosferatu) and 1987 (Cobra Verde), all three of which have also been reissued in this vinyl series, all Werner Herzog films. Remastered from the original analog tapes and pressed in a limited edition on high quality audiophile vinyl.

Wah Wah proudly presents the ultimate reissue series of the Popol Vuh discography made in coperation with Florian Fricke's family and SPV:  High quality pressings, most with rare bonus tracks, all include inserts with liners & rare period photos, high quality laminated gatefold and single pocket covers that faithfully reproduce the original artwork, and remastered from the original tapes __ top class legit editions for one of the big names in Kraut music. NOTE:  After Fricke’s passing, his wife, now in possession of the original tapes, licensed them to SPV of Germany who has issued remastered CD editions of his catalog and are now sub-licensing them to Wah Wah Records for limited edition vinyl pressings. So if you prefer CDs you will want to be sure to purchase the SPV editions.

 

Popol Vuh, the name, comes from the Mayan civilization and is the title of a corpus of mytho-historical narratives and writings of the Post Classic K'iche' kingdom in Guatemala's western highlands which tells the story of (their) creation. The title translates as Book of the Community, Book of Counsel, or more literally as Book of the People. Popol Vuh, the group, led by pianist and keyboardist Florian Fricke, was formed in 1969 and stayed active until Fricke's death in 2001. In 1969 Fricke joined forces with Holger Trülzsch (percussion) and Frank Fielder (synthesizer, recording engineer and technical assistance) and they soon became one of the most interesting bands of Kraut music's avant-garde, being pioneers in sounds that have later been categorized as ambient music, space / cosmic music or New Age music. From 1973, and for many years onward, former Amon Düül II drummer and guitarist Daniel Fischelscher became his main musical partner. Fricke also produced many soundtrack works for the movies of Werner Herzog.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers.

NON-ARRIVAL OF PACKAGES:

All packages are shipped with confirmation/tracking, you will received an automatically generated shipping notice from Ebay e-mail with your tracking number. It has been several years since I’ve had a package not make its US destination, so risk is minimal.

 

INTERNATIONAL Customers:  Please wait at least 3 weeks from my confirmed shipping date before contacting me about the non-arrival of your package. If security is your concern please have your package registered (see above for fee). I do my best to quickly post packages, but once the package is in the hands of the world’s postal system it is beyond my control. With First-Class Package International Service my only option for investigating the loss of your package is to verify that it left this country to its destination country. Most all delayed/lost packages have disappeared/been delayed after they have reached their destination country. NOTE:  Based on recent buyer feedback, International packages have been moving much slower these days; it is not unusual for a package to take over three weeks for delivery, though normally packages should arrive in 7 to 15 business days.
