AN EXCELLENT PLAYING COPY OF THIS MEGA RARE 78 FROM BUDDY HOLLY ON THE UK CORAL LABEL

WRITTEN BY BUDDY HOLLY'S FRIEND BOBBY DARIN CORAL RELEASED THIS SINGLE IN THE UK IN AUGUST 1958 WHEN IT CREPT UP TO NUMBER 17 IN THE CHARTS. DARIN WAS HAVING CONTRACTURAL PROBLEMS WITH HIS OWN RECORD COMPANY AT THE TIME!

Buddy Holly played rock and roll for only two short years, but the wealth of material he recorded in that time made a major and lasting impact on popular music. Holly was an innovator who wrote his own material and was among the first to exploit such advanced studio techniques as double-tracking. He pioneered and popularized the now-standard rock-band lineup of two guitars, bass and drums with the Crickets and Holly’s catalog of songs includes such standards of the rock and roll canon as “Rave On,” “Peggy Sue,” “That’ll Be the Day,” Oh Boy!” and “Maybe Baby.” Though Holly lacked the arresting sexuality of Elvis Presley, he nonetheless cut an engaging, charismatic figure with his trademark horn-rimmed glasses and vocal hiccup. His creative self-reliance and energetic, inspired craftsmanship prefigured the coming wave of rock and rollers in the Sixties. Holly was a professed influence on the Beatles and Hollies (both of whom derived their names from his). Even the Rolling Stones had their first major British hit with a cover of Holly’s “Not Fade Away.”     EARLY IN THE MORNING (Bobby Darin, Woody Harris)   Well - you're gonna miss me early in the morning
one of these days - oh ya
well, you're gonna want me - early in the morning
when I'm away - hey hey don't you know
Yes, you'll be sorry for the times I cried
you'll be sorry for the times you lied
well, you're gonna miss me - early in the morning
one of these days - oh ya
Well, you know a rolling stone - don't gather no moss
and you cross that bridge when it’s time to cross
well, you broke my heart - when you said goodbye
and now the milk is spilled - but you're gonna cry
Yeah, early in the mornin' - you're gonna know
that I was right - oh ya ya
early in the mornin' - when there's nobody
to hold you tight, oh oh oh
Well, you're gonna want me - want me back
you're gonna miss the best man you ever had
yes, you're gonna miss me, you're gonna want me
one of these days, oh ya
