78 RPM Vocalion The Hill Billies 1927 Charlie Bowman My Little Dog Gone #A 5183

Description:

This listing is for a 10" 78 rpm record from Vocalion, performed by The Hill Billies and recorded in 1927. The Hill Billies are originally from Galax, Virginia. In 1924 guitarist Joe Hopkins met barber Tony Alderman, who played the fiddle, the two hit it off. Joe’s brother Al, a pianist, and John Rector, a local shopkeeper and banjo player, soon joined the group. In 1925 they added a second fiddle player, Charlie Bowman, to the group for a fuller sound. Charlie Bowman was known as the Champion Fiddler of East Tennessee during the 1920's. He played "hillbilly" music or traditional old time Appalachian style Bluegrass fiddle music.
Songs on this record include:

Oh Where Is My Little Dog Gone. #A 5183. Wasn't She A Dandy. #B 5183.

This record has been played and was obviously enjoyed. I see many scratches and much wear. I do not have a turntable that can play this record so cannot address sound quality. The label is still intact, and very readable. We do not have the original sleeve or album cover.

Please Note: I find that this is a harder to locate record so am listing it with condition issues.
Please view my pictures for features, details, contents and condition of this very old record.

I have had much experience and success shipping these fragile records and will package appropriately so that your record arrives intact.

Returns are accepted and refunds gladly given upon original item receipt and inspection. Please contact me if you have any questions about an item you have received.
I welcome questions.
