Product Description
The title, DISCOTHEQUE, and the stroboscopic cover art give a fair indication of the music on this 2006 Stereo Total release. This is electro party music, yet the ensemble's speedy, giddy techno owes as much to Kraftwerk (the true fathers of cerebral, robotic grooves) and the Velvet Underground as it does to contemporary club music.
What really distinguishes Stereo Total is their kooky wit, evidenced on the opening track "Everybody in the Discotheque (I Hate)," which condemns club life over an irresistibly bouncy dancefloor beat, and the jerky, Teutonic revision of the Rolling Stones' "Mother's Little Helper." Though not quite as booty-moving as Daft Punk (an outfit that dispenses comparably ironic, Euro-centric dance jams), Stereo Total mix an arty and minimal conceptual approach with a fun, high-energy take on electro-dance.
