MAX ROACH has often been acknowledged as
THE outstanding drummer of the Modern School.
He has been the winner of the annual Metronome
magazine poll, in the drums division, in both
1951 and 1954 and has been among the ton tn in
both Metronome and Downbeat polls for the past ten years.

CLIFFORD BROWN - "The New Dizzy" - The word
among musicians both here and in Europe is that a
new Dizzy Gillespie has arrived. No hornman in
several years has stirred the interest and enthusiasm
of his fellow jazzmen as Clifford Brown. T
he jazz listening public also is becoming aware
of a fresh, authoritative trumpet voice.

Originally released in 1956, this is a BRAND NEW PRESSING!  This set has the earliest documented performances of
the Clifford Brown / Max Roach  Quintet. Trumpeter 
Brown and drummer Roach, along with tenor-saxophonist
 Teddy Edwards, pianist Carl Perkins and bassist 
George Bledsoe, perform four numbers including
hot versions of "All GoF=d's Chillun Got Rhythm" and Edward's
 "Sunset Eyes." In addition there is a later set with the
permanent lineup of the Quintet: Brown, Roach, tenorman
Harold Land, pianist Richie Powell, and bassist George
Morrow.  Together they play "Jordu," Brown's feature on
"I Can't Get Started" and versions of "I Get a Kick Out of You"
and "Parisian Thoroughfare" that are both heated and colorful.
This is a very rewarding and somewhat historic release
of high-quality straightahead jazz from
 one of the great hard bop bands.

Winner of Grand Prix du Discque (Jazz Hot!) prize, and
is also considered to be one of the best live jazz albums to own.

We package our LPs in a thick cardboard LP mailer. 
We ALWAYS take the LP out of the jacket of 2nd hand items to 
avoid any seam splitting that could occur in shipment. 
We put the LP and the jacket in an LP plastic sleeve. 
We do NOT open sealed LPs unless requested. 
We cushion the LP in bubble wrap and use shipping tape 
on all spines to protect the integrity of the box, and to 
insure the safety of the contents. All this is included in

the low shipping price. We will clean your purchase on our 
VPI machine if and when necessary. This insures that 
you receive your item in the best possible condition.

 LP SHIPPING
We offer the US Postal Service’s Media Mail and / or Priority 
for shipping in the U.S. Buyer’s choice. The buyer pays the shipping, 
packing (see above) and handling charges. Tracking is included
