This limited edition Half-speed Original Master Recording is a first pressing from 1979.  Pressed on high quality super vinyl the MFSL records are well known for their superior sound quality.  This vinyl does not disappoint!   There are no MFSL inserts with this sadly.

Visual grading

This vinyl has a fantastic glossy lustre and has been very sparingly played in its time as you have to look very closely to spot any spindle wear.  It is very minimal indeed.  Under a strong bright light I can't detect any hairlines or scratches and it is a visually stunning vinyl for sure.

Play grading  

'Speak To Me' plays very clearly but with a touch of static/crackle here and there.  In saying that you can already tell the difference with this MFSL pressing.  The depth of the sound and the clarity is definitely an improvement on the standard vinyl pressings.  'Breathe' plays with wonderful quality and only a handful of mega quiet background static sounds which are totally non-intrusive.  It still plays with incredible depth again and you can tell how much higher in the mix the bass and drums now are.  There is definitely a greater separation of the instruments here.  'On The Run' is stunning from start to finish and you can so clearly hear the 'running man' at the end and there's even a synth 'whooshing' sound that you don't generally hear on the regular vinyl.  'Time' has only mega light static on the intro but once the vocal begins the audio is of an immaculate standard.  The guitar solo plays with such precision and no distortion at all.  The quiet intro on 'The Great Gig In The Sky' plays very clearly with barely any 'background'.  Once the 'vocal' begins the power is immense and incredibly impressive.  Wow!  Rarely have I heard this iconic track play with such clarity and resonance.  The extended quiet end section plays with excellent quality and only the odd quiet static sound.

'Money' is another fine example of why these MFSL pressings are so revered.  The entire track plays with a tremendous depth of sound and the quality is nigh on perfect.  There is no interference not even on the long fade out.  The intro on 'Us And Them' is stunning and has only a couple of quiet dust ticks.  The remainder keeps up the standard and has a quality that can only be described as Mint- the clarity and definition is sublime.  The final three tracks play to a level that would be difficult to beat.  A couple of dust ticks on 'Brain Damage' only.  'Eclipse' ends the album with stunning quality and no distortion at all.

The Gatefold

The heavy duty gatefold is G&L gatefold does have some shelf wear although nothing major.  The edges have some rubbing as does the spine but it is still 100% legible and there is some corner wear also.  There is a little 'spotting' on the front and back cover but the inside is very clean with only faint 'spotting' here and there.  The opening edge has no handling wear at all.

Anti-static sleeve

This is in excellent shape with no splits and just a little creasing.

The labels

In superb condition they have the bare minimum of spindle wear, no writing and only a couple of very tiny marks on the S1 label.
