Andy Roberts 'And The Great Stampede'.
Original UK Elektra label stereo 1st press LP.
The fourth lost LP by Andy Roberts, released in 1973 just as Jac Holzman sold Elektra to David Geffen, which altered the UK distribution from Warners to EMI and then the three-day-week hit. 'It had to be pressed by EMI's pressing plant at Hayes and they were overstretched due to only being able to press records three days a week and having to get their Beatles albums out in time for Christmas. So the thing never got a proper release, there weren't enough copies, they weren't available on the release day and the review copies didn't go out. It was heartbreaking....remembered Andy Roberts'. With the foldout poster, Elektra/Assylum Records credits on the label and the earliest A-1 B-1 matrices and 1-O 1-P stampers of the earliest copies pressed!   The Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold matt sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear & some light storage rubbing on the cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain inner is intact and in EX condition and the the foldout poster is in EX+ condition.   The record is in visually EX+ condition, with only a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two small needle scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with evidence of only one or two faint spindle markings.   The sound reproduction is EX+, clear & precise with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief, low background noise during the run in grooves, overall a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; K-42151, A-1U stamper 1-P, B-1U stamper 1-O. This is one of the very early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1973 UK stereo issue of this album!
