Led Zeppelin IV A3 / B3 Red/Plum with 'Top' error
This early red/plum pressing plays to a superb standard with barely any interference, just some minor static here and there.  There are no clicks or pops at all!
This has the first known matrix A3/B3 and whilst not a first pressing as such (no Peter Grant credit on the labels) it is obviously a very early one nonetheless.  It has the incorrect 'Top' credit on the S2 label.

Play grading
S1 plays with superb clarity and depth from the word go.  The first track has only the bare minimum of mega light static as does the intro on 'The Battle Of Evermore'.  The classic 'Stairway To Heaven' is very strong and the quiet opening section plays beautifully with barely any static.  There is just a touch more background static as the volume increases but it is not intrusive and the playback is still very impressive.  The 'heavier' section plays with real power and only a little inner groove distortion, a common feature.  A superb version overall.
S2 starts brilliantly with the first two tracks, they have no interference, and the quieter 'Going To California' has only minimal background static that is totally non-intrusive - no clicks or pops!  The classic 'When The Levee Breaks' ends proceedings with sublime quality and no interference again.  You always expect some distortion with this track but it is kept to a minimum here and is a really strong and powerful version.  A fabulous version, you won't find many better!
Visual grading
The vinyl has a lovely glossy sheen and has been very well cared for down the years.  There are no marks or scratches and only a small number of very faint hairlines, they are at first not easy to spot!  There is some spindle wear but definitely not an excessive amount.  A fine example.
The Gatefold
The iconic cover has some shelf wear but certainly not an excessive amount.  The edges have some rubbing as does the spine and the corners also have a little wear.  The right hand corners are actually in excellent shape although there is a small tear on the bottom edge of the back cover.  The opening edge has only light handling wear.  The front cover is very clean aside from a sticker removal mark top right and one other small mark in the centre.  The back cover is in lovely condition with no obvious marking just a couple of light creases and the inside of the gatefold is in superb order with only minimal fading here and there.
The Inner Sleeve
The original inner has seen better days and whilst it is very clean it does have a large split down one side and a smaller one on the other side.  It also a small tear to one side.  Like I say though it is very clean at least.
The Labels
The red/plum labels are in fantastic shape with no marking or writing and they have retained their original strong and vibrant colour.  Just some spindle wear as stated.
