BILL EVANS TRIO PORTRAIT IN JAZZ 1st Press RLP 12-315 Riverside Records 1960
Vinyl is EX+ NM- Hardly been played and comes with original EX sleeve. Engraving on the dead vinyl reads RLP 12- 315 which would indicate it is an original 1st pressing from Riverside Records. After his successful collaboration with Miles Davis on 'Kind Of Blue', Evans recorded 'Portrait In Jazz' with a new group (the Bill Evans Trio) that helped change the direction of modern jazz. The album features great interpretations of standards with Scott LaFaro's bass at the forefront. The album features the same ensemble that would be featured on the following 3 albums until the untimely death of Scott LaFaro in 1961.
MINT (M) ~ Virtually Perfect in every way and never played. Sealed.
Near Mint(NM) - A mint piece of vinyl, this would be our highest grading used for any open record, still has original luster with only the slightest of use (no noticeable scuffs or scratching and will play with no distractions). Cover: Almost perfect without any flaws, almost always in shrink-wrap.
Excellent (EX) - This record would fall between NM- and VG, it’s not quite NM- but is better than VG. This would be only slightly less visually than NM- but still should play almost flawlessly. Cover: Slight wear may be displayed.
Very Good (plus) (VG +) - A very nice record that has been played a little and handled very carefully. Starting to show signs of use such as hairline scratching and scuffing but is still a well-cared-for album and may have some slight discernible imperfection in the audio. Cover: Will have minimal marks and wear.
Very Good (VG) - A nice record which has been played and handled, discs have scratches, and Surface scuffing . Noticeable but minimal surface noise. Groove wear will have started. Cover: Will have seam wear, slight ring wear, or slight corner rounding.
GOOD (G) - Record shows visible sign of play with scratches and scuffs, may have slight surface noise. Cover: Normal used cover wear such as ring wear and split.
