Earth Opera, 1st LP, Orig UK Elektra Stereo G/fld LP, VG+/EX, A-1 B-1 1st Press. Description   Original UK Elektra orange & black label stereo press LP.

Peter Rowan and David Grisman were Folk performers in Boston clubs, who became caught up in the changes in the music scene during the mid-1960s. They formed Earth Opera in 1967 and were joined by John Nagy on bass, Paul Dillon on drums, Bill Stevenson on keyboards and often supported the Doors on tour. They recorded two albums for Elektra before splitting up in late 1969 and both returned to playing acoustic folk & bluegrass music.

This is the earliest pressing with the first label variant with the rough orange & black big 'E' Elektra labels and earliest A-1 B-1 matrices and A-1/A-1 stampers of the very first pressings!
The USA Unipak inner gatefold sleeve sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some light rubbing & some discolouration on the front cover and some storage rubbing on the inner cover. The spine is worn, carefully repaired and mostly readable, the plain company inner is intact & in EX condition.
The record is in visually EX condition, with a couple of faint hairlines and one or two light needle marks visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of only one or two faint spindle markings on each side.
The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves. Overall, a really great, loud and clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; EKS-74016, A-1 stamper A-1, B-1 stamper A-1. This is one of the earliest first few hundred copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1968 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
