Procol Harum, Shine On Brightly, Orig UK Regal Zonophone Stereo LP VG+/EX 1st Pr Procol Harum, Shine On Brightly, Orig UK Regal Zonophone Stereo LP VG+/EX 1st Pr Description Original UK Regal Zonophone red label stereo press LP.

This is Procol Harum's second studio album, recorded in the first half of 1968 at Olympic & Advision Studios, London and released in September 1968. It was the follow up album to Procol Harum, which was rapidly recorded in mono between touring. This saw the band take advantage of more studio time to use a multi-track approach to long structured pieces in stereo. It was also the first album with Robin Trower on guitar and B.J. Wilson on drums, although Brooker, Fisher & Reid wrote all the songs. It was so way ahead of its time, that it sold poorly and did not make the charts in the UK.

This is the original pressing with the first label variant with the rough red Regal Zonophone labels with the 'Sold In The UK....& The Gramophone Co...' label texts and the earliest A-1 B-1 matrices and 1-G 1-G stampers of the very first few hundred pressings!
The Garrod & Lofthouse flipback front laminated sleeve sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some light corner/edge wear and some laminate rubbing and a couple of small creases on the front cover, with some storage rubbing on the rear cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the EMI company inner is intact, discoloured & in VG+ condition.
The record is in visually EX condition, with only a couple of faint hairlines and one or two light needle marks & scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side, but there are pen marks over a name on each side.
The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves. Overall, a really great, loud and clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; YCARX-49-1 stamper 1-G, YCARX-50-1 stamper 1-G. This is one of the earliest first few hundred copies of the original 1968 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
