Queen : Innuendo A2/B2 1st Press

This first pressing plays to a wonderful standard with barely any interferenece.  As always I have played the record in full and I only detected a couple of light clicks on 'Innuendo' although this version is still so impressive with none of the static that you so often find.  The vinyl has been so well looked after over the last 30 years and has not been played that much judging by the audio quality and minimal spindle wear.

The cover is great condition and is so much 'cleaner' than the vast majority you see today and the lyric inner is also practically 'as new'.  A superb 'package'!

Visual grading

The vinyl is in lovely condition and retains a very impressive glossy sheen.  There are no marks or scratches and the only 'flaw' is one small speck on S1 that could perhaps be removed.  It is a very clean vinyl with only a few very faint sleeve removal hairlines that are superficial and have no affect on the audio.  The run out grooves are very clean as are the labels which have only very minimal wear.
Play grading

The percussive intro on the classic 'Innuendo' for once plays with stunning quality with only one very light tick.  So often it is affected by static/crackle but not here and it continues to play with tremendous power and depth with no sign of any interference.  The quieter Spanish guitar section also plays beautifully with no intrusion (even more rare!) and there are only a couple of light clicks just prior to the next vocal due to the 'speck' as mentioned above.  I wasn't able to remove so perhaps the winning bidder would have more luck!  The remainder plays with such powerful and precise audio and 'as new' is a correct description.  Even the fade out has no 'background'  I think Near Mint- is a fair reflection of the audio here.

'I'm Going Slightly Mad' is superb from the very first note - a couple of barely audible dust ticks on the intro that is all.  From then on plays with a clarity and depth that is faultless.  No ticks, clicks or pops and no background static.  This is a sublime Mint version.

Both 'Headlong' and 'I Can't Live With You' play to the same 'high end' standard with no intrusion.  Perfect intros and fade outs and no interference in between!  Once again Mint is very much deserved.

'Ride The Wild Wind' has a couple of dust ticks on the intro (not really worth a mention) and from that point on plays with genuine power and a clarity that is second to none.  This is obviously a record that has been very well preserved and not over-played and ends the side with perfect Mint audio.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 'high octane' vocal intro on 'All God's People' could not play any better and it continues to play with unrivalled power and definition.  There is no distortion and Mint is an easy grade to give.

The classic 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives' plays beautifully with...no intrusion.  The playback is immaculate with not one solitary dust tick let alone anything worse.  The brief percussive ending has no 'background' demonstrating just how impressive the clarity is.  Mint

The quirky 'Delilah' plays extremely well with no obvious intrusion.  There are no clicks or pops but I did detect a small number of light ticks which happen to be very much in the background anyway.  Near Mint

The quiet intro on 'Don't Try So Hard' is so close to perfect with only a minor touch of very light static at the end of the first verse.  From then on it plays with wonderful clarity and again there are no clicks or pops.  A couple of light ticks nothing more and Mint- is an honest assessment of the audio.  A stunning version and rarely found as 'clean' as this today!

'The Hitman' is strong and dynamic from the first groove to the last with no interference.  Incredible power and a strong bass sound which you often don't notice.  Mint

'Bijou' is again so often affected by static (or worse) and yet this is easily one of the finest versions I have ever heard.  The clarity is STUNNING and I heard only a couple of dust ticks throughout.  A Mint version in my humble opinion.

'The Show Must Go On' plays with imperious quality from the intro and through every classic section.  You could not wish to find a stronger version - the clarity and depth of the audio is 'as new' and there is no distortion as you reach the end which is a genuine rarity.  The sonic quality here is sensational and I have no hesitation in grading this classic as Mint as it could not play any better.  The 'go on' fade out also plays with great clarity.

In summary this first pressing plays with superb audio on both sides with a clarity you rarely find today.  In fact the only real intrusion are the two light clicks on 'Innuendo' but otherwise the audio is 'high end' to say the least.  It's the power and depth of the sound that really stand out, not forgetting the clarity of course, and this can only be because it has only had a limited few 'spins' in its time.  It has certainly retained its original sonic quality and then some.  There is no distortion either and on recollection I think complete silence in the dead wax between the tracks also.  A stunning album!

The Cover & Lyric Inner

As any collector knows this is a cover that often suffers due to how 'white' it is but this is one of the cleanest I have seen in quite a while.  The edges have barely any rubbing and the thin pinched spine is in great condition with only one very faint 'spot' near the bottom.  All of the corners are very clean with hardly any wear and the opening edge is very near perfect.  The front cover only has a minimal amount of fading around the edges and the back cover is just as impressive.  It is also still very strong and robust like it hasn't been handled very much and overall this is a fine example of this cover.

The glossy lyric inner is in fantastic condition with no wear.  Ok a tiny crease each side of the thumb notch but they are hardly visible!
