BING CROSBY 1942 WHITE CHRISTMAS 1st PRESSING 78rpm- DECCA # 18429- HOLIDAY INN b side- LET'S START THE NEW YEAR RIGHT
The original 1942 recording and release of 'White Christmas', backed
with 'Let's Start The New Year Right', is a black label Decca 18429
similar (the one pictured is a reissue) to what is pictured above. The
original 1st version has ONLY the "Album No. A-306" (from the Holiday
Inn set) on upper left part of the label (no A-403 is on the label), any
issues that have A-403 in that spot are a reissue for that later set.
Almost all reissues of 'White Christmas' from 1947 onwards use the
re-recorded version of the song, starting with ,
as the record stamp of the 1942 performance had worn out from repeated
repressing of the holiday favorite. Still, some repressings of the 1942
recording were issued well into the 1950s. The 1947 version, despite
being nearly identical to the original, has become the most familiar
recording of the song. Also, due to World War II the original recording wasn't widely available in Europe.
Plays with EXCELLENT sound, Music is Loud and Clear, does not skip
NICE shine, a few light scuffs and scratches, no cracks, no chips
