Pink Floyd : Ummagumma A1/B2/A1/B3 1st Press
This very early pressing plays to a superb standard with barely any interference.  The clarity and depth of the audio on all four sides is 'high end' and it is obvious the vinyls have not been played very much at all.  They are visually stunning and have very little shelf wear.
The gatefold has been so well preserved over the last 52 years and has retained its original shape with only minimal wear...very minimal!
This qualifies as a second pressing as there is no EMI logo on the labels and still has 'Gand' on the S4 label.  This version has London correctly spelt on the back cover as opposed to the first press which has it as Londen.  The original die-cut inners are also in excellent condition with only minimal creasing.

Visual grading
The vinyls are in superb condition retain a lovely glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  S1 has a couple of faint hairlines and the second record in particular is stunning.  Nothing stands out on either record and they really have been so well preserved over the last 52 years.  Both records have only very minimal spindle wear and have clearly not been played very much.  The run out grooves are very clean and the yellow/green Harvest labels have lost none of their original colour.
Play grading
The super quiet intro on 'Astronomy Domine' plays with near perfect clarity - just a couple of static clicks right at the start.  As the volume builds the audio is stunning and the opening vocal section is just as good.  It continues to play with outstanding quality and the long instrumental is a prime example of the clarity and power on offer here.  There is no interference and no distortion either.  The quiet section that follows is unbelievable!  So quiet and yet all I heard were a couple of barely audible dust ticks.  The 'high octane' section is again faultless as is the closing vocal and instrumental.  This would be Mint- but because of the intro I will grade as Near Mint but it is without question a superb start to the album.  The intro on 'Careful With That Axe, Eugene' is STUNNING!  The audio is so clean and 'as new' is no exaggeration.  The sonic quality is equally as impressive as the vocal 'scream' comes in and again there is no distortion.  This section then play with flawless precision and the final quiet section plays beautifully with no intrusion.  There is no need for a minus here this grades as Mint from start to finish.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro on 'Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun' plays with superb audio from the very first groove.  A few mega light dust ticks but nothing else.  The opening vocal has no 'background' but there is one click during the next instrumental piece.  As the volume increases the playback is so powerful and there is no interference.  The quieter section then plays so clearly with no background static, just one light click followed by a tick.  The remainder is again very impressive with only a couple of minor ticks.  I will grade as Ex+ but the majority is certainly better than that.  You would not believe the clarity on the 'A Saucerful Of Secrets' intro!  It is of course so quiet and yet the audio is crystal clear with only a couple of dust ticks.  This standard is maintained as the volume increases and Mason's long percussive section is so strong and clear.  I cannot put into words just how well this 'live' classic is playing so far.  The clarity and power of the audio cannot be faulted and the beginning of the organ 'recital' also plays so well with no intrusion.  The final passage does not disappoint either - no ticks, clicks or pops just phenomenal power and depth.  I am confident in grading this as Mint- such is the quality.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The opening section on 'Sysyphus' is near perfect with only a handful of very quiet ticks, hardly worth a mention.  The piano section again pays testament to how well this vinyl has been looked after.  The clarity is so impressive to say the least.  Part 1 is Near Mint if not better.  Part 2 is Mint with not even a dust tick and Part 3 is Ex+ as it does play with some light static but the music still plays very clearly.  Part 4 plays with very powerful audio and barely any static.  Perhaps a minor touch of distortion on the top end but it still deserves a Near Mint grade.  The quiet intro on 'Grantchester Meadows' plays beautifully with - never heard 'birdsong/bees' as clear as this!  The acoustic section is nigh on perfect with only one very light tick and the vocal then plays with STUNNING clarity and definition.  Every note is so sharp and precise and it has lost none of its original sonic quality and grades as Mint- although perhaps the minus can be dispensed with!  The playback is IMMACULATE!  'Several Species...' ends the side with great quality and again there is literally no interference, the clarity is exceptional.  A Mint version for sure.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The slow build up intro on 'The Narrow Way' plays with great quality and the opening acoustic section is equally as good with no ticks or clicks etc.  'As new' is a correct description.  The segue into Part 2 is perfect and this section then plays with tremendous clarity and power throughout.  Part 3 impresses on every level and the clarity and depth of the audio is sublime.  Rarely have I heard this Gilmour track play as well as this on such an early pressing.  Every 'part' is so precise and the entire 12+ minutes sounds like it was pressed only yesterday!  Mint is very much deserved.  'The Grand Vizier's Garden Party' has a touch of light static on the intro which soon disappears and it then plays to a 'high end' standard with no intrusive 'background'.  There are so many quiet sections and yet the audio cannot really be faulted.  There are no ticks, clicks or pops and the long 'percussive' section in particular is fantastic, perhaps never played for some reason!  In fact the more I play this instrumental the more I am impressed by it!  The clarity is STUNNING and the up tempo section near the end is incredible!  Pure unadulterated Mint audio.  The 'Exit' is Ex+ due to a little static but the preceding audio is Mint- without a doubt.
In summary this very collectable early pressing plays to a superb standard for the vast majority with barely any interference.  The actual clarity is so impressive and across all four sides there are only a couple of light clicks and only very minimal and momentary static on a couple of tracks.  There cannot be many early pressings that play as well as this and in hand with a superb cover this would add to any 'high end' collection.
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeves
The laminated E.J. Day cover is in lovely condition with hardly any shelf wear, certainly nothing obvious.  The edges have no rubbing and the wide spine is very clean with only the usual crease line running down the centre caused by opening the gatefold.  All corners are in superb shape with barely any wear and the opening edges are as close to perfect as could be.  The front cover is in beautiful condition with no laminate damage, just a couple of very small laminate creases.  The back cover has just one faint crease on 'Exit', a tiny corner crease bottom right and also very minimal laminate lift next to the bottom edge.  The inside of the gatefold is near perfect with only a small area of fading near the top of the right panel.  A stunning example overall.
The original plain white die-cut inners are in excellent condition with no side splits, tears or marking.  One has a little more creasing than the other that is all.
