The Beatles : With The Beatles 2/2 1st Stereo Press 'Jobete' Credit 1963

This first stereo pressing plays with STUNNING audio on both sides with no interference!  The vinyl has been so well preserved and that is reflected in the sonic quality on offer here.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is so impressive and even the final tracks on each side have much less of the distortion that is always found on the first/early pressings.

As this is a genuine first press it has the Jobete credit for 'Money' and the misspelling of 'Gotta' both on the S2 label plus the 2/2 matrix.

Another stand out is the cover which remains in fantastic condition with no real wear.  It is visually STUNNING and is so clean with barely any marking.  I have never ever seen a better one!  The original Emitex inner is also in excellent condition.

PCS 3045 // YEX 110 - 2 / YEX 111 - 2 // RP 2 / RO 2

The audio on S1 is Mint(-) (T6 Near Mint / T7 Ex+)

The audio on S2 is Mint(-) (T6 & T7 Near Mint)

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition with a very strong glossy sheen and no marks or scratches.  S1 in particular is stunning with only some faint hairlines that you can only see under a strong light and S2 is similar but does have 3/4 hairlines that are a little more obvious but have no effect on the audio.  The run out grooves are very clean and the labels are near perfect with no marking/writing and only very minimal spindle wear - 4/5 faint traces on S2 and nothing on S1!  The KT tax code can clearly be seen on the S1 label.  A superb example!

Play grading

The run in on S1 has no 'background' and the opening intro on 'It Won't Be Long' is just as 'clean'.  It continues to play with outstanding clarity and power and there is no distortion on the top end.  This is as good a start to the side that you could wish for and Mint is no exaggeration.

The dead is completely silent and then 'All I've Got To Do' more than keeps up this start and plays with imperious quality from start to finish.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static and every note is as 'fresh' sounding as back in '63.  Even the fade out plays perfectly.  Another Mint track.

'All My Loving' also plays with exceptional clarity and depth and once again there is no interference to be heard.  So this first press is playing with STUNNING quality!  You would perhaps expect a little static but none so far!  Mint

'Don't Bother Me' impresses on every level and with a clarity and power that can hardly be faulted.  A hint of inner groove distortion?  If there is it is so minimal and not really worth putting here!  The depth on this track is superb!  Let's say Mint-

The next track 'Little Child' provides more evidence of a vinyl so well preserved down the decades and plays with great sonic quality for a louder track.  There is barely any inner groove distortion and Mint- is again deserved.

'Til There Was You' plays very clearly with no 'background' and only minimal distortion on the vocal.  I only mention this to be 'complete' with my grading and in no way is it intrusive, you hardly notice it really.  It is what you expect as you approach the end of the side and especially when playing a mono record through a stereo system.  No static etc Near Mint is an honest appraisal of the audio although arguably a little harsh!

The classic 'Please Mister Postman' ends the side with very strong audio and with a lot less distortion than you usually find i.e. you don't have to turn it down immediately!  A little more yes but it doesn't detract from the overall 'sound' and, as I often say, perhaps it doesn't deserve to be downgraded but I will say Ex+ just to be a little cautious.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

'Roll Over Beethoven' has only one mega light tick on the intro and then plays with impeccable audio from then onwards.  The audio definition cannot be faulted, there is no distortion and no 'muddiness' to the sound - the clarity is again so impressive for a vinyl approaching 60 years of age!  Mint-

One click in the dead wax and then 'Hold Me Tight' plays with stunning precision and...no interference.  Another 'busy' track and yet the sonic equality does not suffer in any way.  Mint

'You Really Got A Hold On Me' more than keeps up this fine standard and plays with sensational audio with no 'background' of any kind.  Easy to grade this is Mint from start to finish.  Couple of ticks in the dead wax at the end.

'I Wanna Be Your Man' plays with great power and depth and a clarity that once again defies the age of the album.  Mint

'Devil In Her Heart' again plays with no intrusion and.... you know the grade...!

The penultimate track 'Not A Second Time' is almost as good.  Almost.  I did detect a couple of background ticks but they are so quiet you could easily miss them.  A minor touch of distortion perhaps?  So minor and by now you are expecting it anyway.  Totally non-intrusive and Near Mint is still a fair assessment of the audio.

There are four 4 tick/clicks in the dead wax but the intro on 'Money' is not affected at all.  It ends the album with very impressive audio - the playback is so clear with not so much of the inner groove distortion that is always prevalent on this track.  It has to be one of the strongest versions I have ever heard and there is no interference.  It would be even further reduced when played as a 'mono' record and it rounds off this fine album with Near Mint audio.

In summary this very collectable album plays to a 'high end' standard with no actual interference other than a little inner groove distortion towards the end of each side as is common.  There are a handful of light clicks in the dead wax between tracks on S2 but not during the tracks which is the main thing...obviously!  The clarity is so impressive throughout and you can tell it has been so well looked after down the years and not played very much.  A true collectors' item with a vinyl that has a very impressive visual 'look' and a cover that is absolutely STUNNING!

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The Patents pending G & L cover is in remarkable condition when you consider the age with no real wear can you believe and it has retained its original shape and structure incredibly well.  The edges and thin pinched spine are in superb condition with no rubbing/wear and the corners have no obvious wear either, a couple of barely visible tiny 'rubs' that is all.  The opening edge is also very clean with hardly any handling wear.  The laminated front cover is in beautiful condition with just one very small faint crease on the surface and a handful of the usual laminate creases next to the spine and a couple by the bottom edge.  If the front cover is super clean then the back cover is even more impressive in a way when you consider it isn't laminated, it is STUNNING!  It has kept it's original 'white' colour so well with just one very faint 'line' on the left side and a couple of minor blemishes that are very faint.  The flipbacks are so clean with only a couple of minor creases and have none of the staining on the edges that you so often see and they are also still perfectly attached to the cover.  There is one small very faint mark bottom right but so faint I only just noticed it now!  A fantastic example in so many ways!  The previous owner cannot have held many times and was most probably kept inside a pvc sleeve.

Not surprisingly the poly-lined Emitex inner is very clean with no side splits or tears, no age related fading and only a little creasing here and there.
