Media grade: VG++, light surface wear Listing Information
Carolina Soul weekly offering: with a focus on Jazz LPs this week and Rock LPs next week, we present two impressive auctions in a row from the record collection of Greg Wooten in California. Greg currently resides in Los Angeles and spends his time as a collector, DJ, musician, and design gallerist. As author of "Marred For Life!" (a book of defaced and anonymously-altered album covers) and co-owner of vintage design gallery The Window, Greg has a history of locating extraordinary artifacts and bringing them to wider attention.
With LPs, Greg is drawn both to their visual appeal and to their sonic qualities. In order to convey the aesthetics at play here, we have uniquely organized this week's Jazz auction. The listings begin with two label groupings: a complete run of BYG Actuel French originals in discographical order and an extensive selection of ESP-Disk' releases, with multiple interesting variants made available. The second day of listings is highlighted by multiple Sun Ra titles with stunning hand-drawn covers and labels, some even decorated with shower curtain material. Throughout the whole of this auction, you will encounter classics and grails alike, from '50s hard bop to later-era Free and Spiritual. All of these auctions will end on Sunday December 4th and Monday December 5th. To browse this week's selection, click .

Grading Scale Sealed Jacket sealed shut in shrink wrap; disc sold ungraded or "as is". NM Appears unplayed and will bear no marks, sleeve scuffs, or scratches. We seldom use this grade. VG++ May have one or two visible imperfections (i.e. sleeve scuffs, faint scratches, or other superficial marks) that will not affect play. VG+ A few visible imperfections. These may include sleeve scuffs, light scratches, or other superficial marks. VG Same imperfections found on VG+ records but in slightly greater numbers. Records graded VG and above will typically not have any scratches that are deep enough to be felt with a fingernail. VG- A number of visible imperfections; the presence of a considerable number of light scratches will force a VG- grade, as will the presence of significant isolated defects such as scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail. G Pervasive imperfections of varying degrees including both light scratches and scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail. G+ and G- are used to indicate stronger and weaker copies within this range. All records are visually graded by our experienced staff, using a bright lamp and a well-calibrated turntable.
