Media grade: VG+, slight dish warp DNAP Listing Information
Carolina Soul weekly offering: with a focus on Rock LPs this week, we present the second of two consecutive auctions from the impressive record collection of Greg Wooten in California. Greg currently resides in Los Angeles and spends his time as a collector, DJ, musician, and design gallerist. As author of "Marred For Life!" (a book of defaced and anonymously-altered album covers) and co-owner of vintage design gallery The Window, Greg has a history of locating extraordinary artifacts and bringing them to wider attention.
Greg's musical roots lie in Rock, in all of its forms. A multi-layered hybrid of sorts, this week's set at once contains the most special examples of the Rock music that first moved Greg (think Zeppelin, Beefheart, Bowie, and Hendrix), the 80s and 90s sounds that led him into more exploratory territory (from the likes of PJ Harvey and Stereolab), and the experimental, ambient, prog, and outsider stuff that he discovered alongside Free & Spiritual Jazz (the subjects of last week's powerful Jazz auction). Whether you are in search of beautiful copies of classic staples or wish to source private and international pressings that deviate from the traditional blueprints of the genre, we know that this collection holds some special finds. All of these auctions will end on Sunday December 11th and Monday December 12th. To browse the listings, please click .
Item Description Nirvana In Utero (DGC) Pressing features: US pressing, clear wax Vinyl grade: VG+, slight dish warp DNAP ⓘ Visual grade of vinyl Scroll down to see grading scale Cover type/grade: standard album jacket, VG, top corner moderately creased Other contents: printed inner sleeveAll records are vintage pressings unless otherwise noted.
Grading Scale Sealed Jacket sealed shut in shrink wrap; disc sold ungraded or "as is". NM Appears unplayed and will bear no marks, sleeve scuffs, or scratches. We seldom use this grade. VG++ May have one or two visible imperfections (i.e. sleeve scuffs, faint scratches, or other superficial marks) that will not affect play. VG+ A few visible imperfections. These may include sleeve scuffs, light scratches, or other superficial marks. VG Same imperfections found on VG+ records but in slightly greater numbers. Records graded VG and above will typically not have any scratches that are deep enough to be felt with a fingernail. VG- A number of visible imperfections; the presence of a considerable number of light scratches will force a VG- grade, as will the presence of significant isolated defects such as scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail. G Pervasive imperfections of varying degrees including both light scratches and scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail. G+ and G- are used to indicate stronger and weaker copies within this range. All records are visually graded by our experienced staff, using a bright lamp and a well-calibrated turntable.
