Joy Division : Still A1/B/C1/D1 Limited Edition 3rd Pressing (Blue Lettering) 1981

This very early pressing plays to a superb standard with no interference on any of the four sides - the clarity and power of the audio is very impressive overall.  Of course you cannot really expect perfect studio clarity because these are unused/unavailable sessions and live recordings but the actual audio quality cannot be faulted.

I've just had a look on eBay and at the time I was scheduling this double LP there was not another listed with the blue lettering so is perhaps a relatively rare pressing!

The G & L cover is in excellent condition with only very minimal wear and the inner sleeves are also in excellent shape.

This is known as a special limited edition pressing as it was issued in a gatefold with blue lettering and with white/blue labels.  Believed to be a Factory Christmas gift as it says on Discogs!  Of course it has 'The Chicken Won't Stop' and 'The Chicken Stops Here' etched on S1 and S4 respectively.

Visual description

The vinyls are in excellent condition and whilst there are some hairlines they are only faint.  There are a couple of minor scuffs and some light fading also but none of this has any affect on the superb audio.  The blue/white labels are unmarked apart from spindle wear.
Play grading
Time is against me on this one but always I have played every track in full so as to provide a 'complete' and honest grading.  S1 plays with stunning quality from the first track to the last with just one very light tick on 'Glass' and no other interference.  S2 is just as strong and with no intrusion on the audio.  Superb version of 'Dead Souls' by the way! 
The live recordings on S3 and S4 also plays with exceptional clarity and again there is just no interference to be heard.  You can tell both records have been played by the spindle wear but the previous owner clearly looked after his collection extremely well.  'Twenty Four Hours' is included at the end of S3 despite not being listed on the cover - it is only on the first and early pressings.
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeves
The cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear.  Considering how white it is it has retained its original colour so well.  The edges are in perfect order and the wide spine is just a little misshapen / creased.  All corners are very clean with hardly any wear and the opening edges have only the bare minimum of handling wear at all.  The front cover is super clean with no marking just a couple of minor scratch lines and a handful of very faint creases next to the spine.  The back cover is just as impressive with only a couple of minor 'specks'.  Just a little ringwear on the front and back also which is common.  The inside of the gatefold is again very clean with only minimal discolouration / fading around the edges and some minor crease lines around the spine.  A fine example overall.   The records are contained inside plain white inner sleeves which are both in excellent condition with no side splits and only a couple of small faint marks.  They both have 'Envelope Made In Western Germany' printed on them.  Not sure they are original to this album?
Play tested on my Rega P2 Turntable / Denon PMA-520AE Amp / B&W 684 Speakers

The records have been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
