Fairfield Parlour : From Home To Home 1Y1 / 2Y1 1st Press Vertigo 1970
This classic Vertigo first pressing from the artists formerly known as Kaleidoscope plays with stunning quality across both sides.  The only interference are three consecutive clicks during 'Emily' on S2 but otherwise the clarity, depth and warmth is superb.  There are of course so many quiet sections and yet they all play so clearly and there is only a little inner groove distortion towards the end of S2 but this is common I find.  The vinyl is visually very impressive and only has some of the usual faint hairlines.
The textured gatefold is only VG due to it being damp at some time in its life which has resulted in a wavy 'look' to it which is more noticeable on the back.  Not in poor condition by any means but not perfect.
As this is a first pressing it has the 1Y1/2Y1 matrix and six of the track titles on the labels differ in their wording as compared to the inside of the cover - see discogs!

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see some faint hairlines which have no affect on the audio.  The run out grooves are very clean and the Vertigo labels are unmarked apart from some spindle wear but not too much.
Play grading
The very quiet intro on 'Aries' plays beautifully with no intrusion, you would not believe how clean it is, and the opening two verses then play with sublime clarity also.  So far only a couple of barely audible dust ticks!  The first chorus is equal to that and it continues in the same precise way with no interference - every vocal and instrumental section are flawless and it just could not play any better.  A Mint start to this classic album.
'In My Box' has just one mega quiet tick on the intro and from that point on plays as well as the previous track.  There are no ticks, clicks, pops and no background static.  You just hear the music and nothing else!  Even the fade out plays perfectly.  Mint
The acoustic intro on 'By Your Bedside' has no background and Daltrey's opening vocal is just as impressive.  The standard does not drop as it continues and once again I am struck by the clarity on offer here.  Another stunning Mint version.
'Soldier Of The Flesh' plays with exceptional quality from the word go.  The intro is perfect and the opening vocal just has one barely audible tick, hardly worth a mention really!  It continues to play with a sonic quality plucked straight from 1970 and the percussive mid section and the build up that follows are 'as new' for sure.  There is no distortion on the top end and the remainder of this classic does not disappoint either.  Just a hint of light static on the fade out so I will grade as Mint- accordingly.
'I Will Always Feel The Same' plays with high end audio from the first note to the last with... no interference.  Mint
'Free...' ends the side with S1 with genuine quality once more.  Great melody of course, typical of FP, and I cannot find one single negative despite it being the final track where the audio can often be affected.  It plays with real power and depth and the end section in particular is superb!  Mint is again deserved.  A STUNNING S1 here!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The majority of the 'choral' intro on 'Emily' plays perfectly but there are three clicks just after 20 seconds.  There was a 'speck' there that I was able to remove but the clicks remained for some reason.  Normal service is resumed with the first verse and 'chorus' and it continues to play with wonderful clarity and warmth.  There are a couple of ticks just before the quiet 'Emily lay like silence...' verse which are not intrusive and the remainder plays with sublime quality.  The more powerful 'vocal' sections are just stunning.  The majority of the audio here is Mint- but I will grade the intro as VG only.
Running at just over one minute 'Chalk On The Wall' has no interference whatsoever and grades as Mint
The acoustic intro on 'The Glorious House Of Arthur' has just one very light static ticks and then plays with superb audio from that point on.  At their melodic best again the depth and warmth of the audio is so impressive and Mint- is 100% deserved.
'Monkey' plays with outstanding audio throughout with, you guessed it, no interference.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static the playback is faultless.  Mint
No need for detail here as 'Sunny Side Circus' plays with stunning precision and no background so Mint is the only grade that I can give.
The quiet intro on 'Drummer Boy Of Shiloh' is 'as new' and the opening vocal is just as clean.  It then plays with genuine quality - if there is a touch of inner groove distortion on the vocal every now and then it is so minor and totally non-intrusive.  There is no 'real' background and the sonic quality overall is very impressive.  The instrumental section near the end is very strong and clear and the final vocal just has a little more distortion perhaps.  In a sense distortion isn't the right word - the audio is just quite as clear.  Near Mint is still a fair assessment of the audio.
In summary this first pressing plays with superb audio and only the bare minimum of interference as stated.  The clarity, definition and warmth of the music is high end and the only intrusion is indeed the three clicks near the beginning of S2.  This is very collectable album and aside from that I am sure the winning bidder will be very impressed with the audio.
The Gatefold & Vertigo Swirl Inner
The textured cover has obviously been damp at some point as it is a little wavy.  However, when you look at the front it is isn't immediately obvious and it is the back that is a little more affected.  Aside from that it is in pretty good shape with not too much shelf wear.  The edges have some rubbing but not an excessive amount and the wide spine has only a little wear.  The corners have a little rubbing also and the opening edge is quite wavy near the top.  Both the front and back cover are very clean with barely any marking and the inside of the gatefold just has some white 'marking' on the left panel and just minor fading around the edges.  VG overall.
The original poly-lined swirl inner (dated 0470) is in excellent condition with no side splits or tears and has only minimal marking and some creasing.
