Description
This is the original 1971 UK Ember label stereo press,
with the A-1G B-1G matrices with the early E-1 D-1 mother stampers of the first press.
Reflections On A Life was recorded during the first half of 1971 at Rockfield Studios near Monmouth. The band had lost early members Richard Hopkins & Ralph Denyer during recording and after their second album 'Rebirth' in 1970. They had been touring and appearing at festivals, but back in the studio in 1971 they took a more progressive approach, including mellotron & sitars for their third album. The result was a distinctly more progressive and spacey sound compared to the hard rock style of the second album, but again the album failed to sell and by early 1972 the band finally split up.... The album has never been re-released....
The Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd matt gatefold sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear and some light storage rubbing with a small sticker scar on the outer cover. The spine is intact & fully readable. The plain company inner is intact, is slightly discoloured & in VG+ condition.
The record is in visually EX condition, with only a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two light needle scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with evidence of only one or two faint spindle markings on each side.
The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief, low background noise during the run in grooves.
Overall, a really great, loud and clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; NR-5058, A-1G stamper E-1, B-1G stamper D-1. This is one of the early pressings of the original UK stereo issue of this iconic 1971 album.
