Led Zeppelin : In Through The Out Door A5 / B5 1st Press
This first pressing plays with exceptional audio and with barely any interference, some light static at the beginning of S1 and one minor click on S2. The clarity, depth and power of the audio is so impressive and this is a vinyl that has not been overplayed judging by the sonic quality and the lack of spindle wear. Maybe not a fan favourite but it does play extremely well!
The cover (version D) is in excellent condition with only minimal wear and the plain brown paper 'bag' is one of the best you are ever likely to see! The inner sleeve is in excellent condition also but has been coloured in by the magic ink!

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with scratches. Under a bright light I can see a few hairlines and a longish one on S2 but they are faint and have no affect on the superb audio. The faintest of mottling but this is very minor. There is no groove wear and the run out grooves are also very clean. The Swan Song labels are immaculate with barely any spindle wear.
Play grading The quiet intro on 'In The Evening' plays very clearly with only minimal static and a couple of light ticks but there are no clicks or pops. I've played it 4 / 5 times now and the stylus has performed its self-cleaning exercise admirably! The main section then plays with stunning quality and no intrusion and even as the volume decreases for 30 seconds or so the clarity cannot be faulted. The remainder has no interference and there is barely any static on the long fade out. Page's production on this album has often be regarded as 'muddy' but it sounds good here - the depth and resonance of the audio is very strong. I will grade the intro as Ex- and then Mint- from then onwards.
'South Bound Saurez' plays with superb audio from start to finish with no interference of any kind. Jones' piano work is exceptional! A 'jaunty' track that plays with genuine quality throughout and deserves to be graded as Mint
'Fool In The Rain' is of the same high standard with a clarity, depth and power that can only be described 'as new'. There is not even a solitary dust tick let alone anything more and plays as well as it would have done when first pressed. A sublime Mint track.
The rockabilly 'Hot Dog' has just one very light tick on the intro and from then on plays with impeccable quality. I guess you can see why this album divided opinion but there is no doubting the sonic quality on offer here. If there is any inner groove distortion here it is so minimal and barely noticeable. A Mint- version to end the side.

The intro on 'Carouselambra' plays with stunning precision and Plant's opening vocal is just as impressive. It continues to play with superb audio and this entire opening section is flawless. As the volume decreases into the quieter mid section there is no interference as such only a very small number of minor static ticks that are not intrusive in any way. One static click type sound also but it has to be said that the vast majority of this section plays with stunning quality and the audio has a distinct deep rich tone to it. The final section plays with imperious quality and again there is no intrusion on the audio, just minimal light static at the end of the fade out. I will grade as Near Mint but 98-99% is 'as new' for sure.
The intro on the emotive 'All My Love' plays with great clarity and only a handful of barely audible dust ticks and the first two verses and chorus play with stunning precision. It continues to impress on every level and the mid instrumental is a case in point, audio at its very best! The final vocal section is perfect and the fade out has barely any background. This is Mint- at the very least.
'I'm Gonna Crawl' plays with exceptional clarity on the 'quiet' intro and the next section is equally as strong. Plant's opening vocal is faultless and it continues in the same precise way and the high octane 'Every little bit...' passages are superb! The audio is again so strong, deep and powerful. Page's solo delivers on every level and Plant's final vocal and accompanying music ends this fine track with outstanding audio. A couple of minor ticks on the fade out but I still think Mint- is deserved here - an underrated track and a superb end to the album.
In summary this first press plays with superb audio with barely any interference. The clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is up there with the best I have heard and whilst not quite a final upgrade it's not far from it. A little static right at the start and that one clicky sound on S2 that is all. As stated this album certainly split the fans and the critics for being somewhat keyboard 'heavy' but you can't blame them for trying different things and I actually prefer it to Presence! Great sonic quality overall and with a cover, inner and 'brown bag' that have all been preserved so well.
The Cover, Picture Inner & Paper 'bag' The 'D' sleeve cover is in excellent condition with very little wear. It has only minimal wear on the opening edge including one very small 'nick' / tiny tear which I didn't even notice at first! Aside from that it is in lovely condition with no marking on either side and only a handful of minor creases around the edges. The spine, edges and corners are extremely clean with no obvious wear. A fine example overall.
The plain brown paper 'bag' is in lovely condition, easily one of the best I have seen. It has no side splits or tearing (a rarity), no marking and very little creasing. There is a small fold running down the right edge but this is only a minor thing. The inner sleeve is in great shape with minimal creasing in that one corner and no side splits or marking. The 'magic ink' has been coloured in but I can't really downgrade because of that!
