Embrace : The Good Will Out A1 / B1 / C1 / D1 1st Press 1998

This first pressing from original pressing from '93 plays to the highest standard possible and in my opinion may well never have been played before such is the sonic quality on offer here.  Put simply there is no interference on either side - there are no static ticks, clicks, pops or static and the clarity is just STUNNING!  I cannot overstate how well it plays and on my play grading below I have graded every track as Mint there is not even a solitary Mint- one in there!  The vinyl is pristine condition and 'as new' sums it up perfectly.  This is now 30 years old and easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE time-warp classic.

The cover has also been preserved beautifully and can you believe has no wear at all.  The picture inner is just as impressive - this is a stunning Mint package in every way!

Of course I should say this is not a genuine first pressing which was released in Feb '93.  This version was released very soon after in Sept '93 but if you want an original pressing with perfect Mint audio then this is certainly the one to own!

Visual description

The vinyls are in great condition and still have a very strong glossy sheen and no scratches.  Only when I look under a bright light can I see some minor mottling on the records and some faint hairlines on the second one.  This is purely superficial though and has no impact on the audio.  The labels have no spindle wear and only a small number of faint fingerprints caused by me sorry!
Play grading
The 'Intro' plays very cleanly with barely any background.  There are a couple of minor static ticks at the beginning and the remainder plays perfectly.  Mint- is fair.
'All You Good Good People' then plays with stunning quality from the very first note.  The power and depth of the audio is superb and there is no faulting the clarity either.  Every section is 'as new' and plays like it has never been on a turntable before.  A Mint version in every way.
The quiet vocal intro on 'My Weakness Is None Of Your Business' has no background and it continues to play with impeccable audio from that point on.  I haven't played this album in such a long time but I have certainly not forgotten how good it is!  This is another sublime Mint track.
'Come Back To What You Know' ends S1 with very strong audio.  There is no interference and only a very minimal amount of inner groove distortion which hardly deserves a mention really.  It is so minor and still plays incredibly well and with great power and depth.  Perhaps I shouldn't downgrade it because final tracks so often have a little distortion by their very nature but I will say Near Mint just to err on the side of caution.
The quiet intro on 'One Big Family' has only a couple of mega quiet ticks and as the volume increases the audio is fantastic!  It continues to play with supreme power and with no intrusion on the audio.  Mint-
'Higher Sights' plays with great clarity from the word go.  Again there is plenty of evidence here to suggest this album has hardly been played... if at all!  A powerful emotive track and yet it plays so clearly and without any background.  A Mint version.
'Retread' ends S2 with genuine quality once more.  I have noticed a little sibilance here and there but that is just a pressing issue so not a fault of the record as such.  It's a common issue with this LP having read about it online.  Near Mint

'I Want the World' on S3 has a couple of the crackles right at the start of the intro and then the rest of this 'heavy' section plays superbly.  The opening vocal is perfect and it continues to play with immense power and depth and no distortion.  You can see why this track was compared to a certain well known Britpop band!  An Ex intro and then Mint for the remainder.
'You've Got To Say Yes' plays with imperious quality and with no sign of any intrusion aside from one one mega light tick at the end of the fade out.  Mint-
The delicate intro on 'Fireworks' plays so clearly with only a couple of very quiet static ticks and from then on it plays with exceptional clarity and no interference.  A stunning version with not even a dust tick on the long fade out.  Mint-
'The Last Gas' plays with great power and only minimal inner groove distortion.  There is no interference and Near Mint is deserved.  The spoken outro has a few light ticks so will say Ex- for this section.
The piano intro on 'That's All Changed Forever' plays beautifully with only 3/4 barely audible dust ticks and the opening vocal is just as impressive.  It continues to play with STUNNING audio and there is nothing to detract from the overall 'listen'.  As it builds towards the end the quality is still there - this is such a strong version and plays with a depth and warmth you only find on vinyl.  A Mint- version.
'Now You're Nobody' play very clearly with no actual interference.  There are a small number of very quiet ticks but in no way do they intrude on the audio.  The musical box ending plays superbly!  I will say Near Mint but the vast majority is better than that.
The build up intro on 'The Good Will Out' plays with great clarity and the first vocal is perfect.  From then on the clarity of sound is so 'clean' and the powerful end section is STUNNING as is the most of the long fade out.  There is a just a light click once per revolution towards the end of the fade out which is a little annoying as everything else that preceded it is superb!  Due to this I will grade as Near Mint- but yes the main 'part' of the track is flawless.
In summary this first pressing plays with superb audio for the vast majority.  As you can see from my play grading there is very little in the way of actual interference and only minimal inner groove distortion on a couple of 'end' tracks plus a touch of sibilance.  Overall though a great listen and the cover is in superb condition also.
The Cover & Picture Inners
The glossy cover is in great shape with hardly any wear.  There is just one small area on the top edge where the paper I think has been glued back down but there is certainly no split below it.  Looks like the top surface may have come loose at some point.  Aside from that there is no other wear aside from a couple of tiny corner creases.
The first inner has just one small side split and the second has only minimal creasing.

This record has been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
