The Rolling Stones : Out Of Our Heads 3A / 2A Mono Export Press - Rare

This rare and very collectable 'Export' LP was pressed in the UK but for the European market and includes the classic '(I Can't Get No Satisfaction)' which just happens to play with stunning quality.  The album overall plays with superb audio with hardly any background, just just one light click and only very minimal distortion.  The overall clarity, depth and power of the audio is so impressive for a record that is 57/58 years old.  The vinyl (with the unboxed / grooved red Decca label) is in excellent condition with just some hairlines, this is a very well preserved copy.

The cover is absolutely stunning!  It is so clean and has barely any wear, certainly nothing obvious.  The inner sleeve is also in great order.

Strictly speaking this is a second pressing because it has the correct spelling of 'I'm All Right' on the back cover.  However, the 3A/2A matrix was used on the first pressings so this is obviously still a very early pressing and it still has 'I'm Alright' on the S1 label.  As can be seen the track-listing for this Export version was very different to the UK release.

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  There are some faint hairlines but these can only be seen when you hold the record at angle under a bright light.  There is no groove wear and the matrix info and KT tax stamp can clearly be seen on each run out groove.  The unboxed / grooved red Decca labels still have their deep colour and do not have very much spindle wear.
Play grading

The intro on 'Mercy Mercy' plays very clearly with only a minor hint of distortion for a couple of seconds and then the opening vocal plays perfectly.  It continues in the same way with that typical raw Stones' sound and no interference.  There is perhaps just a touch of vocal distortion towards the end but again hardly intrusive.  Great depth to the sound overall and I think Ex+ is about right.

As was the case with early Stones LPs you could tell the tracks were recorded in different studios because 'Hitch Hike' has a completely different sonic quality.  An even more raw sound you could say.  It plays with genuine quality throughout with no background and even the fade out is perfect.  Mint-

The intro on 'The Last Time' has no interference and from then on this classic plays with tremendous clarity and power.  A 'busy' track in so many ways and yet the sonic 'landscape' is very impressive.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static this has to grade as Mint- the playback is so strong.

'That's How Strong My Love Is' almost as 'clean' with just one light click towards the end.  Aside from that it plays powerfully and with no other intrusion.  I will grade as Ex+ although the vast majority is obviously better than that.

'Good Times' plays with great clarity and depth from the get go.  Every section plays with sublime quality and Mint- is very much deserved.

The 'live' version of 'I'm All Right' has no clicks or pops etc but is not quite as clear as the other tracks probably because it is the final track on the side.  It is still an excellent listen and Ex is fair.

----------------------------------------------------------

A bit of crackle on the run in but then the intro on the classic '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' plays with great clarity as does the opening vocal.  The first chorus is 'as new' and it continues to play with phenomenal quality.  How it should be heard in its original true form and I cannot fault this version.  Outstanding power and clarity and Mint- is the only grade I can give.

The intro on 'Cry To Me' plays to perfection and the first high octane vocal is very strong with no distortion on the top end.  This level is pretty much kept up as it progresses.  When  you consider the age of the album and that this is a mono record being played through a stereo set up the sonic quality is very impressive.  I only heard one light tick near the end but it really is the lack of distortion that really stands out when you think how powerful Jagger's vocal often is here. Near Mint

'The Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man' plays with exceptional clarity and depth from start to finish with no sign of any interference.  Every section plays so clearly and I have no hesitation in grading this as Mint- such is the quality.

The acoustic intro on 'Play With Fire' has barely only a couple of minor statics and the opening vocal has no background at all.  It continues to play with great quality - each note is so clean and precise and if there is any vocal distortion it really is kept to a minimum.  I'd forgotten how good this track was, I haven't heard it for a long long time!  Near Mint

'The Spider And The Fly' is another track that plays with such a clean sharp audio.  The vocals are very strong and the mid instrumental has no intrusion.  The harmonica ending is superb!  Mint-

'One More Try' ends this superb album with genuine quality once more.  There is no obvious distortion and the overall playback is very clean indeed.  I would say Near Mint is an honest appraisal of the audio.

In summary this very early mono pressing plays with superb audio across both sides with barely any intrusion.  S1 is very impressive with just one light click and minimal inner groove distortion and S2 is just stunning!  A relatively rare record this will add to any collection and as you can see the cover is in lovely condition also.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

For a 57/58 year old cover it has been so well preserved with hardly any wear.  The edges have no rubbing / wear and the thin pinched spine is so close to perfect with just one tiny crease by the bottom corner.  The other corners are in superb order without any wear and the opening edge is immaculate.  The 'laminated' front cover is stunning with no real wear, just a handful of very faint laminate creases around the edges and that minor crease bottom left.  The unlaminated back cover is just as impressive with just one very small faint mark / rub and a minor crease lower right.  This truly is a stunning example of this cover!

The poly-lined inner sleeve is dated 2-70 so I'm not sure if it is the original but it is nevertheless in great condition with hardly any age related fading and only minimal creasing.
