The Rolling Stones : The Rolling Stones No. 2 1A/1A 1st Boxed Mono Press
This first pressing on the boxed Decca label once again plays to a fantastic standard with no actual interference. I have graded the final track on S2 as Near Mint because the clarity of sound is not quite up there compared to the rest but all the other tracks play with stunning precision. The clarity, depth, warmth and power of the audio is so impressive and the vinyl is in lovely condition also. I still think it deserves to qualify as a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing :-)
The cover has been very well looked after with only very minimal wear and the original inner sleeve is also in great shape.
This is the first label of this boxed pressing and was produced around 1970 - 1972 according to the stonesondecca site.

The audio on S1 is Mint(-)
The audio on S2 is Mint(-) (T6 Near Mint)
The cover is Ex+
The inner sleeve is Near Mint-
The labels are MintThe intro on 'Everybody Needs Somebody To Love' is perfect and Jagger's first 'vocal' is just as clean. From then on it plays with sensational audio with no intrusion at all. Just that deep, rich mono sound with no ticks, clicks, pops or static. A Mint start to the album.
'Down Home Girl' is just as impressive. There is no interference and Mint is again deserved.
'You Can't Catch Me' has an even greater depth of sound mainly due to the fact it was recorded in a different studio. The clarity is faultless and it basically plays like it has never been played before. Another Mint track.
The quiet intro on 'Time Is On My Side' plays to perfection and it continues to play with great quality through every vocal and instrumental section. A classic Stones track and it just could not play with any greater precision. Mint
'What A Shame' and 'Grown Up Wrong' end the side with stunning quality once more and of course... no interference. You can hear each note so clearly, the audio definition is high end indeed. The final track especially is so impressive because it has no inner groove distortion whatsoever, I can't believe how clean and precise the audio is truth be told. Both grade as Mint - stunning side of music.
----------------------------------------------------------
'Down The Road Apiece' on S2 plays with genuine quality from the get go without any background. The standard does not drop as it continues and again you can hear early Stones in all their glory! The vocals are so strong and the end instrumental (long for them) plays with sublime quality. Mint from start to finish.
The unmistakeable intro on 'Under The Boardwalk' plays beautifully and from then on plays with great depth and warmth and no background. No surprise there! Mint
'I Can't Be Satisfied' provides more evidence of a vinyl hardly played with a clarity and depth that is out of this world! It just could not play any better and Mint is again 100% deserved.
The rest of the tracks on the album 'Pain In My Heart', 'Off The Hook' and 'Suzie-Q' play with stunning quality and again there is no interference to be heard. Maybe the clarity is not quite on the same level with the final track - Richards' guitar is a little 'muddy' but it still plays damn well with no other intrusion. I'll grade it as Near Mint but the other two as Mint I think that is fair.
In summary this later boxed pressing plays with incredible audio with no ticks, clicks, pops or static. Just a slightly 'muddy' sound at times on the final track as stated but in all honesty it could hardly play any better and for a vinyl that is over 50 years old the sonic quality is so impressive.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in lovely condition and has only a few faint spots / marks on the back cover mainly in the top left corner. Apart from that it is more or less perfect. The edges, spine and corners are perfect and the front cover is super clean with only the bare minimum of light marking next to the opening edge which has no handling wear by the way. A fine example overall.
The original poly-lined inner is in great condition also with only some minor creasing.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
