TEARS FOR FEARS - SONGS FROM THE BIG CHAIR - Rock/Synth Pop - Vinyl Record - HHR00284 - Cover and record in Very Good condiiton.
This album was made by Tears for Fears, an English band formedin Bath in 1981 by Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal. Founded after thedissolution of their first band, the mod influenced Graduate, Tearsfor Fears were associated with the new wave synth bands of the 1980s, andattained international chart success as part of the second Britishinvasion. After touring The Seeds of Love in 1990, Orzabal and Smithhad an acrimonious split. Orzabal retained the Tears for Fears name as a soloproject, releasing several albums under that name. Orzabal and Smithreconciled in 2000 and released an album of new material in 2004. The duo havetoured on a semi-regular basis since then.
Songs from the Big Chair is duo’s second studio album, released on 25 February 1985 by Mercury Record. A follow-up to theband's successful debut album, The Hurting (1983), Songs from the BigChair was a significant departure from that album's dark, introspective Synth-Popfeaturing a more mainstream sound, sophisticated production values and diversestylistic influences. The album peaked at number two in the UK and at numberone in the U.S., becoming a multi-platinum seller and the band's mostsuccessful studio album to date. The singles Shout and Everybody Wants To RuleThe World both topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top 5 of the UKSingles Chart. Receiving positive critical reviews upon release, Songsfrom the Big Chair has accrued lasting praise and has been named one ofthe 1980s' best albums.
