THE BEACH BOYS - ENDLESS SUMMER - Vinyl Record - Pop/Rock - HHR00292

This record was released by The Beach Boys, an American rockband formed in California, in 1961. The group's original line up consistedof brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine. Distinguished by their vocal harmonies, adolescent-orientedlyrics, and musical ingenuity, they are one of the most influential acts of the rock era. The Beach Boys formed as a garage band focused on Brian's song writing and managed by the Wilsons' father, Murry, In 1963, the band enjoyed their first national hit beginning a string of top ten singles that reflected a Southern California youth culture of surfing, cars, and romance, dubbed the Californian sound. They were one of the few American rockbands to sustain their commercial standing during the British invasion andby the mid sixties they abandoned beach going themes for more personal lyricsand ambitious orchestrations. In 1966, the Pet Sounds album and GoodVibrations single raised the group's prestige as rock innovators. The BeachBoys are one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful bands of all time, selling over 100 million records worldwide. They helpedlegitimize popular music as a recognized art form and influenced the development of music genres and movements such as psychedelia. Between the1960s and 2020s, the group had 37 songs reach the US Top 40 (the most by an American band), with four topping the billboard Hot 100.

Endless Summer is a compilation album released on June 24, 1974. A collection of hits from the band's 1962–65period. It revitalised the band's popularity after years of lukewarm sales, but also inspired nostalgia for the Beach Boys' early surfing and hot rod-themed music, repositioning the group as an oldies act. Four months after its release, the album reached number 1 in the United States and Canada. It was thegroup's second chart-topping album in the US and returned them to a level of commercial success they had not experienced since the mid-1960s. The compilation spent 155 weeks on the Billboard albums chart and was certified 3× platinum forshipping over three million copies.
