The proceeds from DUCT TAPE SOUP will benefit A Safe Place, Berkeley Tenants Action Project & The Long Hall.
Originally released in 1989 on a German label, then on Lookout! in 1992, Crimpshrine's Duct Tape Soup is one of the most overlooked but highly regarded albums that helped redefine pop-punk. Influenced by their personal experiences of homelessness, drug addiction, and dumb luck, Crimpshrine always try to bring out the positive side of things no matter how bleak life can turn out. "You're sick of crying/You're sick of trying and you're ready to give up/But things look better if you separate them and deal with them one by one," says the gravelly voiced Jeff Ott. With such personal, heartfelt lyrics sung along with a raw pop-punk sound -- the added edge is courtesy of the shoddy recording that sounds as if it were taped in someone's garage -- Crimpshrine epitomize the ethics of D.I.Y. and prove that you can still pull through no matter how crappy things can get. ~ Mike DaRonco
