Description
This is the original 1974 UK issue with the Rainbow MCA labels and the earliest A-1 B-1 matrices, with the very earliest 1-G 1-G stampers of the first few hundred copies pressed...
Lynyrd Skynyrd's second album recorded in January at the Record Plant in Los Angeles & released in May 1974. With an instant classic, 'Sweet Home Alabama' to open and even a JJ Cale cover to end on. The album was produced by Al Kooper and Neil Young was a friend of the band, even writing them a song which was not recorded at the time. This is the album that propelled the band to stardom in the US and later that year in the UK after they appeared on the Old Grey Whistle Test....
The Garrod & Lofthouse matt sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with very light corner/edge wear & some very light storage rubbing/discolouration on the cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact and is in EX condition.
The record is in visually EX condition, with only a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two small needle scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side.
The sound reproduction is EX+, clear & precise with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some very brief, low background noise during the run in grooves.
Overall a really great, loud & clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; MCF-2547, A-1 stamper 1-G, B-1 stamper 1-G. This is one of the first few hundred copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1974 UK stereo issue of this album!
