ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA (ELO) - DISCOVERY - Vinyl record - HHR00695 VG

This album is by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) the English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970. ELO was formed out of Jeff Lynne's and Roy Wood's desire to create modern rock and pop songs with classical overtones. It derived as an offshoot of Wood's previous band, the Move, of which Lynne was also a member. During the 1970s and 1980s, ELO released a string of top 10 albums and singles. During ELO's original 13-year period of active recording and touring, they sold over 50 million records worldwide. From 1972 to 1986 ELO accumulated 27 Top 40 songs in the UK, and fifteen Top 20 songs in the US. The band also holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits (20) without a number one.

Discovery is the band’s eighth studio album and was released on 1 June 1979 in the United Kingdom where it topped record charts, and on 8 June in the United States. Discovery was the band's first number 1 album in the UK, entering the chart at that position and staying there for five weeks. The album contained five hit songs and Don't Bring Me Down would become one of their only two top three hits in the UK throughout their career and also their highest-charting US single at number 4. The album itself was the first ever to generate four top-ten singles from a single LP in the UK and was eventually certified 2× platinum in 1997.
