MINT-  A new item sealed never used.
NEAR MINT - A record which looks new but has been opened or handled. May have been played, but are no visible defects , no surface noise. no damage to the cover or sleeves.
EXCELLENT - There maybe some visible evidence of prior handling , may include minor spindle marks , finger prints , scuffs or non-audible light scratches. Cover may have minor shelf wear but overall in excellent condition that has been handled carefully and looked after.
VERY GOOD- At the top end very good+ may have some visual  signs of wear and tear spindle marks , discolouration of the label,and scuffs, scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Sleeves may have minor , seam shelf and ring marks but still look very good. Records at the bottom of this grade ( very good) may show groove wear, loss of original gloss , scratches deep enough to feel and other visual wear and tear. Surface noise is expected during quiet periods and between songs. Covers may have minor writing , stains , stickers and  or more serious seam shelf and ring wear. Most used vinyl will fit in to this grading somewhere.
GOOD- A record that plays through with no skips or jumps, but will likely have significant surface noise , visible groove wear lots of scuffs and scratches. Lots of visual  wear and tear and heavy handling. The cover may have extensive scuffs , rips , sticker damage , writing and held together with tape and stained.
