T. Rex : T. Rex A-1E / B-1E 1970 Fly Records

This album may not be a first pressing but it plays to the highest standard possible with no background at all.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is sensational and as per always I have listened to every track in full.  I'm not exactly sure when it was pressed but you will find a version playing with such stunning precision as this and it easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE pressing.  The vinyl is in visually in superb condition and it clearly has hardly been played if at all!

The cover is in excellent condition with only light wear and the original 'cube' inner sleeve just has one side split.

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a superb glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Looking under a bright light I can only see some minor faint specks and only a couple of ultra faint hairlines.  The run out grooves are superb clean and the labels have no marking or spindle wear.  Stunning!

Play grading

This isn't of course a 'high priced' vinyl so I do not think an in depth grading of each track is necessary.  However, my usual standard still apply!  I can confidently say that every track on S1 plays with unbelievable clarity and depth.  No skipping I have played every track in full and 'as new' is no exaggeration.  An example of this is the acoustic 'The Visit' which plays beautifully from start to finish with no intrusion not even a dust tick.  In fact that standard is prevalent on every track.  Ok it's not a first pressing but you will not find cleaner audio than this.  The entire side grades as Mint there is not even one track that grades as Mint- that a measure of the sonic quality on offer here.

Starting with 'Is It Love?' S2 plays to same high end standard with no interference.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static the audio could not be any cleaner.  The quieter tracks such as 'Suneye' play with a clarity that is second to none and the more powerful numbers play with stunning precision also.  The one long track, 'The Wizard' plays with phenomenal quality through all of its near 9 minutes and 'The Children Of Rarn (Reprise)' ends the album with incredible clarity once more.  This side is also Mint from the first note to the last.

In summary this classic 'debut' album from T. Rex quite simply plays 'as new' with no intrusion whatsoever.  I know that seems a little hard to believe but as I have encountered many times if a vinyl has been well preserved and hardly played then that standard is often possible.  As stated there is no spindle wear on the labels so I'm not sure this album has been played!  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is on another level and this is easily a FINAL UPGRADE archive version.  Audio does not get any better!

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The semi-gatefold sleeve is in excellent shape with only minimal wear.  The edges have very little rubbing and the spine just has minor rubbing on one edge and a little wear on the corners.  The right hand corners remain very clean with only minimal wear.  The 'front' cover is unmarked and the inside is near perfect with only minimal fading on the bottom edge of the right panel and a couple of specks.  The back cover is in lovely condition without any marking.

The cube shaped inner sleeve does have one side split but is otherwise in excellent order with no marking and very little creasing.

This record has been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
