DESCRIPTION:  Most are familiar with Charlie’s role as undertaker of the hippie era, but few know Manson as a musician. Charles Manson visited New York City in the early '60s with his guitar and his songs in a vain search for recognition. Later, in 1967, he had better luck in Beverly Hills, where famous musicians let him use their studio to produce this album. He is accompanied by some members of The Family, most notably Bobby Beausoleil, with vocal backup from the women of The Family. During a stay in a San Francisco prison, he met a fellow inmate and gave him the album to release. Originally published and issued in 1970 (1971 in Spain) on ESP Records, while Manson was being tried and convicted of participation in his notorious murder spree; it was released in order to help and fund his defense, only to meet total rejection from the underground scene of the era. At the time only 300 copies were sold from the initial pressing of 2000. This record is the epitome of all damned, cult, unsettling albums. Suprisingly the music, these are all Manson compositions, comes off as decent 60s melodic hippie-ish pop rock with a contemporary folk influence; if you play this for an unknowing listener chances are they would never guess Manson as the artist (his voice isn’t half bad), but watch the reaction when you tell them who they are listening to… and then the real weirdness begins!

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.
