"Morrison Hotel"....
One of the finest albums from 1970....
Issued on Elektra in 1970...EKS 75007...UK pressing in a non laminated Macneill press gatefold sleeve...The matrix numbers are A1/B1...It's a first UK pressing....
There is a slight problem with side 2 of this listing....The record (And sleeve!) have been stored in a PVC sleeve (Possibly since 1970) and there has been a sort of chemical reaction between the PVC and the disc..(I have seen this many times with polylined inner sleeves which have direct contact with the playing surface,,but not often from the PVC outer sleeve..But several items from the same collection that this came from seem to have suffered like this)....Anyway,the chemical reaction causes shadows to appear on the playing surface of the record...Some times they affect play,sometimes they don't...
Both sides of play really well,there are a few very slight background clicks on a couple of the tracks on side 2 but they are deep in the mix and don't interfere with the sound....I forgot to mention that there are also a few light scuffs on each side as well....So the disc looks VG,but plays EX...So how do you grade that?...EX?....VG+?...VG?...I would say EX,but to be on the safe side,I grade the disc as VG+....It doesn't stick or jump,it's not dished and has no warps...(Played with a Shure cart at 2g)
Both labels are undamaged,but there are visible spindle trails...It has had regular play (not surprising,it's such a good album!)..
The sleeve has a few minor defects....A small area of discolouration on the bottom front left and a little cornerwear...Otherwise,it's clean and tidy...Even the edges have minimal rubbing....
So,that's it....If you don't mind a record that looks a bit untidy,but plays great,this is perfect for you...
