David Gilmour - Luck and Strange (Translucent Sea Blue)
Description
Details
David Gilmour worked for five months in Brighton and London on 'Luck and Strange', the first new long player he has released in nine years. The LP was produced by David and Charlie Andrew, known for his collaborations with ALT-J and Marika Hackman. The majority of the lyrics come from Gilmour's co-writer Polly Samson, with whom he has worked for 30 years.
There are eight new tracks on the album, plus a cover version of Between Two Points (original artists: The Montgolfier Brothers), on which Romany Gilmour plays the harp and sings. Gilmour's daughter provided backing vocals on other songs on the LP.
The musicians involved in the creation of 'Luck and Strange' include: Guy Pratt & Tom Herbert on bass, Adam Betts, Steve Gadd and Steve DiStanislao on drums and Rob Gentry & Roger Eno on keyboards. Will Gardner was responsible for the string and choir arrangements. The title track, which was created during a jam in David Gilmour's barn in 2007, features the late Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright.
The cover photo by Anton Corbijn was inspired by the lyrics of 'Scattered', the album's final song.

About Us
Our founding year in 1998 - long after vinyl was declared dead and long before vinyl was celebrated as a cool thing again - proves that we are real vinyl nerds. We started out as a small record dealer from home. Later we opened our first real record store and then of course our own online shop. Everything out of passion and always with the motto: SAVE THE VINYL. What is not available online is available in our store in Übersee, Frühlingsweg 22. Overseas? Yes. Overseas at Chiemsee. Directly on the A8 motorway, between Munich and Salzburg. Here you will also find a fine selection of second-hand vinyl.
We also have a large selection of equipment from many manufacturers. Simply everything you need for vinyl...
