GOODTIME CHARLEY is an enchanting musical which recounts the saga of Joan of Arc from the perspective of the Dauphin. Joel Grey and Ann Reinking offer galvanising performances. She plays the role of Joan with panache and wit, and gets one of the best songs in the score ("Voices and Visions" and the dramatic eleven o'clocker "One Little Year"). The score by Larry Grossman and Hal Hackady is full of emotion and delicate beauty ("Merci Bon Dieu", "Born Lover" and "I Am Going to Love (The Man You're Going to Be)"; as well as Charley and Joan's hilarious "You Still Have a Long Way to Go". GOODTIME CHARLEY was a flop, running only 104 performances at the Palace Theatre in 1975. Grey and Reinking would be reunited in happier circumstances in 1996 co-starring in the mega hit revival of CHICAGO.
1975 Original Broadway Cast LP Released on RCA Red Seal # ARL-1-1011 and is in stereoMusic by Larry Grossman and Lyrics by Hal Hackady with Arthur B. Rubinstein Conducting.
The Jacket is in VG+ Condition with just a very slight amount of ring wear on the back.
The Record is in NM Condition and will Perform with Brilliant Sound Reproduction! Also Included is an Insert that gives the story by each act and is supplemented with photos from the Play.
