In anticipation of their forthcoming full-length, Penuce, set for release in late 2009, “The Little Golden Blanket” features the albumʼs first single, “Prison Braid” and b-side, “I Love You,” both of which were recorded and mastered by Pete Lyman at Infrasonic Sound Recording Co. Qui jumped back into the studio in March of ʼ09 to begin tracking material for Penuce, the follow up to their sophomore release, Loveʼs Miracle (Ipecac). Tracking went so smoothly that vocalist David Yow, drummer/vocalist Paul Christensen and guitarist/vocalist Matt Cronk agreed to release the two songs in time for their appearance at All Tomorrowʼs Parties: The Fans Strike Back as a limited edition EP. The 7-inch, initially available only to ATP concert-goers at the UK festival, is limited to 500, hand-numbered units on white vinyl. Cover art by David Yow. Qui was founded in 2000 by Christensen and Cronk in Los Angeles, CA. In late 2006, the duo was joined by vocalist David Yow (of The Jesus Lizard/Scratch Acid fame), who first appeared on record with Qui for the release of their single, “Today Gestation,” b/w “Freeze” via Infrasonic in 2007. Their idiosyncratic blend of punk, noise, metal and experimental genres, coupled with their advanced musical prowess, has earned them a dedicated following throughout the U.S. and a self-proclaimed responsibility to share their unbridled passion and God-given talent with the rest of the world.
