COLD ROSES ORIGINAL 2005 LOST HIGHWAY RELEASE WITH ORIGINAL MARKETING STICKER
"...a full-fledged, unapologetic return to the country-rock that made his reputation when he led Whiskeytown. Not that the album is a retreat, or a crass attempt to give the people what they want, but it's an assured, comfortable collection of 18 songs that play to Adams' strengths because they capture him not trying quite so hard. He settles into a warm, burnished, countryish groove not far removed from vintage Harvest-era Neil Young at the beginning and keeps it going over the course of a double-disc set that isn't all that long." - All Music Guide Track Listings 1. Ryan Adams & The Cardinals Cardinology 2009 ORIGINAL LOST HIGHWAY DELUXE LPStereophile Recording of the Month, February 2009! Four stars for Performance and Four stars for Sonics!
Cardinology is the latest album from alt-country rocker Ryan Adams and his band The Cardinals. Written after a period of drug rehabilitation, it is quintessentially the record he spent years promising but did not quite deliver. Now that it's here, it will easily go down as one of the best that Adams has ever made in his decade-spanning career.
There can be no doubt, Cardinology is a classic rock record, start to finish. Seminal influences U2 and the Grateful Dead are honored with little reserve. Great playing and singing abound, from the Tex-Mex gospel swagger of "Born Into a Light" to the plaintive melodies of the piano ballad "Stop". So compelling is the work of Adams's backing band throughout, it is almost no wonder that the album should bear their name. But Cardinology isn't merely a showcase for a talented band. It's a singer/songwriter album that's about songs, intimate and inviting.
More than ever, Ryan Adams has crafted a record of solid, singular vision. Tight, clean lines are the norm here, as Adams proves he has found the voice he was meant to have. Gone is the rage of his early work, replaced by carefully measured melodic sensibility. Cardinology is the work of a man who has been through a lot and knows he's far from being done.
"Adams' idea now seems to be richness rather than surprise: the gospel according to Ryan, but at lower levels of volume and urgency... his obvious influences, such as Parsons and U2, have never been used as well." - Robert Baird, Stereophile Magazine, February 2009, pg. 125
"...while many of the songwriting turns are familiar to longtime Adams fans - "Go Easy" could easily have appeared on any record since Gold - he's still capable of writing a transcendent tune like this album's strongest, "Crossed Out Name," whose strummed acoustic guitars power a U2-flavored rumination. "Let Us Down Easy," which adds a Wurlitzer to the mix, is another controlled but satisfying mix of electric guitars. And "Magick," Adams' fun tribute to chord-bashing riff rock like "Highway To Hell" or "All Right Now" is a ball." - Robert Baird, Stereophile Magazine, February 2009, pg. 125

Ryan Adams Jacksonville Nights 180 GRAM Sealed 2 LP Set ORIGINAL 2005 RELEASE WITH 4 TRACKS NOT INCLUDED ON THE CD VERSION ALSO HAS ORIGINAL MAKETING STICKER FOR COLLECTORS
Ryan Adams breaks my heart. His songs, especially his singing, touch me somewhere deep inside. I don't really know why. It's just like the lyrics in "A Kiss Before I Go," where he sings, "I can't explain what I don't know." Well, I can't explain what I don't know either. I am old enough to be his mother, I haven't hung out in bars for years, and excessive drinking is part of a very distant past. Yeah, I've had a broken heart, but not every time I paired up with someone. I'm not from the south either, so I don't really know that kind of life. Still, I feel like I know this world Ryan lives in. His lyrics make it painfully clear what it's like. This is the second cd he has put out with his band The Cardinals. Together they have crossed over to the other side. This is not alt-country, folks. This is pure country, the kind that Hank Williams and Johnny Cash made in the '50's. Brushed drums, pedal steel, upright bass, cello, piano, and violins weave in and out of the electric and acoustic guitars. The vocals are the primary focus on all the songs, especially on "Peaceful Valley," which he sings in a falsetto, straining to hit the high notes. There are a few recording flaws-there ALWAYS are a few in Mr. Adams' releases. Maybe that's why I like his cd's so much-he'd rather go with 95% of what he wanted the sound to be, than pro-tool the music until it strips all the life out of it. At any rate, I can't tell you my favorite song on this cd, because I pick a new one each time I listen to it. That, my friends, is the hallmark of a really great record. You are going to have to buy this if you want to hear it-Ryan Adams and The Cardinals are too country for rock radio, and not cookie-cutter enough for country radio. That's a shame, because this is the best country record in the last 5 years, maybe even the last ten years. Highly recommended!

WHISKEYTOWN STRANGERS ALMANAC DOUBLE 2008 GEFFEN RECORDS 180 GRAM LP SET WITH 5 PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACKS AND STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL MARKETING STICKER STILL ATTACHED FOR COLLECTORS
Strangers Almanac was Whiskeytown's penultimate album. The band is still steeped in the sounds of country and Gram Parsons-inspired country-rock here, but one can hear the music moving toward the pop of their final effort Pneumonia. Everything still centers around the voice and excellent songwriting of Ryan Adams (who was still only 22 at the time of this album's release).

Gold - the brilliant second solo album from Ryan Adams - only heightens the artist’s current role as one of the most revered songwriter-performers of his generation. But like all great art, Gold should also serve to surprise and confuse the expectations of those who’ve been quick to place labels on the extremely talented and prolific former leader of the now-legendary alternative-country band Whiskeytown. While Adams’ previous releases were mostly downbeat affairs, all it takes is one listen to the Pete Townshend-like power chords and ‘60s soul organ that dominate this album’s opening track, “New York, New York” — or the happy-go-lucky, take-no-prisoner harmonica on “Firecracker” with its “Let me be your baby tonight” chorus —to alert the listener to the fact that Gold is going to be anything but a sad affair.
In 2001, Adams released Gold, a sprawling 16-song album with a limited edition five-song bonus disc (the five bonus songs are included on this LP release!). Unlike Adams' previous work the album adopted less of a country style, going on to sell 364,000 copies and making Gold Adams' best-selling album to-date. The album earned Adams two Grammy nominations in 2002; "Best Male Rock Vocal" for "New York, New York" and "Best Rock Album". Adams also received a nomination the same year for "Best Male Country Vocal" for his version of Hank Williams' "Lovesick Blues" from the tribute album Timeless. Gold's "When the Stars Go Blue" has been covered by The Corrs and Bono, Tyler Hilton and Tim McGraw
Demolition is 13 tracks pulled from over five sessions during 2001 and 2002. After sitting on stacks and stacks of tracks for over a year, the decision was made to assemble a "greatest hits" from the unreleased songs, a retrospective of a high-speed year in the life of a rising star ...of days between gigs ("Tennessee Sucks"), of matters of the spirit ("You Will Always Be The Same," "Hallelujah"), and mostly, of loves come and gone. The collection of songs on Demolition marks the follow-up to the Lost Highway debut Gold, one of the ten best albums of 2001, according to the Village Voice critics' poll, and numerous national magazines across the country.
Following the success of Gold, in 2002 Adams released Demolition. A compilation of tracks from earlier recording sessions, Demolition included tracks which were recorded for but never included in his previous releases, including songs from the unreleased albums 48 Hours and The Suicide Handbook.
