Here is one of the rarest editions of this classic Sonic Youth album! The 2003 German Universal gatefold double vinyl version! Mastered by Willem Makkee this was part of a very collectable and good sounding series that also included - amongst others - Soundgarden ("Superunknown"), Nirvana ("In Utero"), "Mark Hollis" and....gasp.... The Cardigans, "Gran Turismo". They all had a sticker: "Vinyl Re-Release mastered from original tapes www.universalmusicworld.com" complete with Universal's globe logo.

Since this sticker was on the shrinkwrap it will most likely be gone when the albums are bought secondhand and since neither label nor sleeve mention "Universal" - all say "Geffen" - this version is pretty hard to ifentify. The definitive distinguishing feature is that the whole series has "320" - Germany's three digit vinyl code - printed in the deadwax.

The catalogue number is "Geffen 424 515-1" but keep in mind that this is NOT the pressing that was released around 1992 when Geffen reissued SY's SST/ Blast First albums. This is the rare 2003 German reissue, mastered by Willem Makkee, "from original tapes".

I bought this new in 2003/4 and handled it with care. The whole set is in Near Mint condition. The Universal sticker isn't present anymore - like most people I threw it away with the shrinkwrap;).
